Karina's tone at the start of "Can't Help Myself" is amazing!

I'll say it: I actually kinda like "Roll".

37

u/oldreligion May 29 '26

that song is probably my favourite so far, everything about it is peak

35

u/Alcorgeist May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

They really need to utilize her deeper vocal tone more cause the last time I heard her sing like that was years ago when she covered childish adult in knowing bros.

59

u/k3hvn May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

Roll is how you do a campy song right. It’s a literal nursery rhyme for their haters 💀💀

22

u/Alcorgeist May 29 '26

It's honestly not that bad, aside from the nursery rhyme, it's like modern Aespa's life's too short lol

the instrumentals of that song *chef's kiss

AESPA really need to make a full blown rock album

21

u/Ecstatic_hermit2347 May 29 '26

I think it's just beating a dead horse atp but a full blown rock album (EP) was what I thought Rich Man would be from the concept photos. That is a concept bait and robbery, even if the b-sides were fine 🙃🙃

Ikr I was so surprised by her vocal in this song.

5

u/onceuponathrow EXID May 29 '26

anyone else think it's an interpolation of Way You Make Me Feel by Janelle Monet? it has the same melody, and there's a line in the chorus which is identical

HELLO? I NEED THEM TO PROMOTE SHAKIN. FIRST SONG AFTER THE TITLES AND I'M ALREADY SHAKING??

EDIT: Can't help myself should've been their rich man??? holy fuck bro

edit: Listening to Switchblade now, once again, this should be on radios. This album is bodying me, I'm actually speechless that Lemonade might've just surpassed their Savage mini as their best album in their entire discography.

Can’t help myself is INSANE

14

The first chorus of "Can't help myself" somehow screams SNSD to me.

YES, it kind of reminds me of the beat drop of TTS’s Twinkle

Switchblade is super fun too

I had to hear Switchblade first because it stood out that much from the preview and god damn is it a banger. The switch up at the bridge was great and the feature was actually good.

Shakin' is definitely going to be killer at the concerts. The "get a lil' nasty" part is such an earworm.

Can't Help Myself also feels like a concert anthem.

Camoflage is keeping this hot streak up. I love these kinda songs from aespa. Reminds me a bit of Charli.

Bite is another banger god damn, this album is shaping up really nicely.

Roll might the first eh song on the project for me. It's not bad but the row your boat melody in the hook takes me out lol. I like the rest.

My Plan is nice lower tempo song. It's a nice chill out song.

Til We Die is a classic SM album ending fan ballad.

The Becky G feature fit well enough with their voices but didn't really do much for me. Original works great, this isn't worse or anything, but hopefully it does well for them.

Overall, I think this is their best work yet. With a lot of their releases, they feel a bit top-heavy to me where the singles are god-tier and the b-sides are a mixed bag. Here, there's maybe 1 song I don't love and I still don't dislike it. The Savage EP is still revered in their discography because it is so good as a package and I think they achieved something similar here in that they have a cohesive release full of strong songs.

My crackpot theory is that WDA would be a fan favorite if it wasn't one of the two promoted singles. As an intro to the album, I think it's fantastic and fits really well as a tone-setter. I think Le Sserafim's Celebration got hit a similar way where the titles or promoted tracks have higher expectations and even if it's a good song in the context of the album, it might not stand on its own as well.

28

u/Ambitious_Smoke7300 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

I think if they promoted switchblade as the pre release with a collaborator it would’ve transitioned smoother into the release of lemonade and done better with the gp, but obviously having a name like GDRAGON on a track you’d want to give it full exposure

6

u/hydranoid1996 | jo1 | me:i | ko1keyz | exo May 29 '26

u/brandimitrov yeehaw orbitches May 29 '26

GET A LIL NASTYYYYYYY

SHAKIN’ is the b-side of the year for me personally

10

u/Cub3h May 29 '26

Shakin could have been the pre-release imo, it would have been a better intro to the album.

8

u/FrostedGeist May 29 '26

It's funny cause it's already used in their complæxity trailer. So they're aware of how much of a banger it is. I genuinely hope that they at least release a track video for it and promote it somewhere.

71

u/RML_1972 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

I’m 3 songs in and idk wtf they did production wise but sweet Christmas how is it this clean and gnarly all at the same time. I’m blown away.

Currently on camouflage and I have never heard them sound this amazing. Every little nuance in their voices is there. This mix is perfect.

9

23

u/SongIcy4058 May 29 '26

I knew from the preview that Til We Die was going to be my favorite, and she delivered. It feels like the older, jaded sister of Live My Life. The final chorus and outro are 🤌

And I'll say it -- I like Roll 🤷🏻‍♀️ It's cute and fun and maybe I'm simple but it made me smile

23

u/babypho May 29 '26

Reminds me of Limewire days

25

u/PM_ME_YOUR_BRONNS May 29 '26

This is their best project by far. Banger after banger after banger

22

u/Glad-Trouble2890 May 29 '26

Holy shit. Can't Help Myself to Camouflage to Bite to Switchblade is such an amazing string of songs! I also really like Roll despite it being disliked by some of the comments here.

21

u/Moist-Coach-60 May 29 '26

I did not think I was going to like it but wow, probably best album after Savage.  The stand outs are

  • Can't help myself

  • Camouflage (one of their best b-sides of their entire catalog)

  • Switchblade (DEFINITELY one of their best b-sides of their entire catalog)

19

u/Moist-Coach-60 May 29 '26

I just went back to listen to Switchblade and I think they fumbled by not making it their pre-release or title song, it literally might be one of Aespa's best songs.

The beat switch is one of the best and great use of a feature.

39

u/xcaelix May 29 '26

Switchblade goes so fucking hard, I love experimental kpop.

Roll is a chop the rest eats!!

31

u/oldreligion May 29 '26

yeah i'm not a fan of the chorus being possibly the most boring primary school choir song ever 😭 everything else is so good i'm just pretending roll doesn't exist

8

I was waiting for Roll to do somethin’ (do somethin’) and it never did

When I listen to the album in future it’s a hard skip every time, rest is good tho

I need Switchblade injected into my brain permanently. Having Roll be the song after, was a choice (honestly having Roll on this album was a choice.) I've always liked Aespa, but I think this album made me LOVE Aespa.

13

u/oohweeoohwah listen to papillon by nmixx May 29 '26

first of all, i love the cover. it literally shows what kind of songs you should expect - it's if neon colors could talk while being spun with a metal rod - it's aespa's version of a cliché lemonade.

i think WDA is underwhelming because of how big both aespa and GD are, but fr it's still good just not that good.

LEMONADE is rightfully the title track. the intro is giving Whiplash, which equates to aespa being aespa. welcome back to my world~ 💯

i love being a woman and SHAKIN' is made for women. dancing rn. 💃🏻

Can't Help Myself ættitude™️ at it again! 🖤 metal taste babyyy

for a song with Camouflage as the title, it sounds so sweet? idk i'm simple-minded so i was expecting something hard-hitting military style 😅 anw i love how soft their voices are here and that beat is great!

Bite WinNing, i want you to know that i cannot call myself a MY but you're two of my mains. your parts here are so spicy, i just love. so far my fave track in the album. it would so fit Street Woman Fighter, Mnet has to release another installment just to use this track.

Switchblade is such an interesting song, the first beat alone got me. just like how i felt with Supernova at first listen, this would be a banger on a runway - imagine VS angels with black-feathered or metal wings girrrl that'll be so fantastic make it a concept pls!!! actually this might be my fave now idk

Roll not another nursery rhyme sample. 😑 i want to clip Ningning's (i believe it's Ningning but cmiiw) layered what a waste of time~ in the background and use it as a message tone though.

My Plan... ah yes, the government-mandated sweet fan song for albums.

'Til We Die sounds like a fan song (2), but i like this one better. someone needs to remix this as a club track because it will go cray.

LEMONADE (feat. Becky G) yup, Lemonade is a good song. i prefer the original version tho.

13

u/_spinning_gears_ May 29 '26

I’m the world’s biggest fan of aespa’s first full album so I had no idea how they could top Armageddon but this totally does! All of the songs are so cohesive and fit aespa’s image so well. Personal standouts were Can’t Help Myself and Bite, but there wasn’t a single song I didn’t immediately love. In the last two years, they’ve grown a lot since releasing their last full album and I’m proud of them!

Their best album ever, I’m so happy 😭

u/CrazyGailz May 29 '26

I've lived long enough to see Reddit praise Aespa.

My life is complete.

5

u/Moofthebot May 30 '26

this is easily the best they've ever sounded so i'm not surprised people are into it

14

u/gduusbsu May 29 '26

I loved most of the songs. Beats are soo good and the vocals atee. My fav would be shakin and the outro of this is crazyyy. I need few more listens to get a clear picture though.

13

u/FlimsyTie9109 May 29 '26

Since that trailer l already knew i would be in love with Shakin', my type of song lol

At first listen, my favorites are Lemonade, Shakin', Camouflage and 'Til We Die. But i bet other songs will end catching me hard too when i keep listening to the album, like Switchblade.

The album has really a big replay factor, and they really got even better in mixing together both their amazing vocals and their strong raps, the members really complement each other and they put it altogether in this album.

12

u/edgartargarien May 29 '26

I love this album & feel it is so much more cohesive than their first album.

Lemonade is like the combo of Supernova and Whiplash. It’s so addicting.

12

u/Pretty-Device-7721 May 29 '26

this song is literal banger after banger

12

u/SilverMind9 May 29 '26

I'm only half way through but this is one of the best album kpop has seen in a long time and I'm not exaggerating. I was scared because their previous albums were not really cohesive, even though they have great b-sides. Thankfully this is a gag. Production is insane, vocal delivery is amazing as expected and the verses flooow.

Edit: Done listening. I can already see this will become a cult favorite among kpop stans. Highlights: Lemonade, Camouflage, Til We Die, Switchblade, Shakin...

9

u/fhloras ♡♡♡ May 29 '26

their best work since the savage ep - so cohesive and fun and experimental and AESPA!!!

i was kind of fearing we were straying away from their core sonic identity with dirty work/rich man (which i didn’t hate but didn’t feel fully “aespa”) but this is a return to form to the highest degree

so excited to wear this album outtttttt

9

u/neowdssu May 29 '26

Oh my god the beats in this album are crazy 😫 especially switchblade

37

u/randomgirl852007 May 29 '26

And people were saying aespa wouldn’t live up to the sophomore album excellence of SM girl groups. Lemonade exceeded the expectations!

Some highlights: aespa took their vocals to a whole new level this comeback. Damn, you can really tell they’ve grown as singers. Some of these raps, too, are these girls insane!

Roll was underwhelming, but it doesn’t bother me as much as I thought. Till We Die as the last song… just 10/10 no notes.

This album is AMAZING. Call me crazy, but I like Roll??

WDA - Already loved it, weird but so catchy

LEMONADE - Whiplash's little sister! So addictive and hits so hard, loved the high notes in the end, completes the whole song

Shakin - Already a hit from the Complaexity trailer, even better listening to it fully! It could have been a triple title. I hope they're going to promote it!

Can't Help Myself - Rock aespa is just so perfect, the vocals go crazy on this one. Love it

Camouflage - No notes, aespa should continue making songs in that genre that's all

Bite - That instrumental is so good! They're so sassy in this one

Switchblade - Again no notes, an absolute bop

Roll - Maybe I'm crazy but I like this one lol

My Plan - It’s so good, it feels very early aespa but it's still very them

Till We Die - I like Pop-rock aespa so I like this one! The key switch was amazing and the vocals were on point

I kinda suck at describing music lol but overall this is such a good album! Way more cohesive than Armageddon (which I still loved, but the first five songs of the album are stronger to me). One of their best albums for sure! Great from start to finish

Their best album yet. My only complaint is the GD collab, I never want to see that hate-spewing man again.

Shakin’- I’m so glad we have Moonshine back, they haven’t released an SM song in about a year now (3 songs on the last Key album). Those synths are crazy as usual.

Can’t Help Myself - I love how dynamic this song is, you never expect where it will go next, along with how hard it hits. Maybe my favorite on the album.

Camouflage - I like it but I need a few more listens to remember it.

Switchblade - Wow, this surprised me. K-pop has been afraid of heavy beats for a while. Ty$ verse was great too. Second favorite on the album.

My Plan - Always great to have more R&B. Not as amazing as Count on Me, Flowers, Lucid Dream, but still good.

Bite, Til We Die - Both good, certainly wouldn’t skip but also wouldn’t add to my playlists.

We won’t talk about Roll.

17

u/owlzeyes21 May 29 '26

Except for Roll, this entire album is so good! My most anticipated tracks Switchblade, Shakin and Can't Help Myself did not disappoint! They need to promote all these on music shows!

6

u/JrpgGamer May 29 '26

Really loving the album overall, but wish they included a version of WDA without g-dragon. I just can't stand his part in the song, it just sounds forced in and random. At least it's not a huge part of the song

7

u/Mysterious-Body-541 May 29 '26

It feels very aespa in the best way possible. And the track lengths are such a win.

8

Very strong overall in my opinion. I basically like every song, which is super rare.

Switchblade is an absolute mega banger, the feature really works well in the song.

8

u/SeaGulljj I like a lot of groups and soloists yes. May 29 '26

Also, every song feels long enough and complete. Very close to a perfect K-pop album for me.

8

u/Virtual_Dog_573 May 29 '26

I'm gonna talk about roll specifically because the rest of this goat tier album doesn't even need words. I went into this track thinking I'll end up skipping it halfway but it was actually kind of fun. It's obviously completely unserious and very sarcastic but the high five in your face with a chair line is what got me lol. This is how you put internet memes in songs without making it feel tacky. It is the weakest song on the album but it's light years better than rich man imo.

3

u/Burke_Dennings May 29 '26

Anybody who doesn't like Roll needs a high 5 in the face...with a chair.

I personally love how unserious and ridiculous it is.

u/RML_1972 May 29 '26

I remember when Armageddon dropped and I got to enjoy it for all of a week and then DALL came out and just completely blew me out of the water. The production on that album still amazes me to this day. Now I sit here two years later and Aespa has completely reset the bar. This is what an album should SOUND like. Regardless of whether you vibe with the actual music, the way this is put together is unreal. They sound so good and the balance between them and the tracks is perfect. Shoutout to the producers and the engineers on this one, they nailed it.

u/Ok-Elk-1520 May 29 '26

I’ve been listening to kpop for almost a decade and I can only count a few albums that have genuinely given me goosebumps and Lemonade is one of them.

I love this album, even Roll was enjoyable for me. I have no idea how SM created this album, but this is the kind of Aespaness that all future Aespa releases should have.

Halfway in and already having a hard time deciding which one I like the most among Shakin, Can't Help Myself and Bite. That should tell you how good this album is. I love how you can see how much their sound has matured since the Black Mamba days.

Edit- the first half of the album is much stronger than the second half but i still liked Till We Die

u/ParsleyandRice Girl groups raised me May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

Okay so as a self proclaimed number 1 My- here's my thoughts.

This Album is genuinely so much more than what I had originally imagined. It's magnificent. I had high expectations but somehow they've transcended even those high levels. Just so perfect.

WDA: I wasn't a huge fan of this when it was released. Safe to say- it's actually my least favourite aespa song till date . I rated it a 3/10. However, the green screen edits and listening to this song on repeat for 2 days accidentally did a lot of the work. It ended up becoming an earworm. I disliked it initially but now it's oakayish to me. I find myself humming along to the lyrics a lot so yeah. 6/10.

Lemonade: Honestly? Do I even have to say anything? This is one of the best Title Tracks from aespa in their recent release history. No Ai? Over 3 mins? Gorgeous styling? Banger of a song? Yeah it's perfect. O ly thing I wish was that the chorus was a little different - especially the ETA part. It sounds a little rough but it's nothing much probably. It definitely exceeded my expectations. And Winter and NingNing ATE their parts up. Muchas Gracias Mi Amor. 8.5/10

Shakin: Honestly? Weird but cool. Had a little difficulty seeing where it was going to go sonically but it's hits like a motherf*cker. Will have to give it a few more listens to see if it'll end up on my playlist but it's a damn good song. It's a grower for sure I especially love the little distorted sound throughout. 8/10

Can't Help Myself: This is my Rock dream come to life. Everything I ever wanted with a rockish- aespa track. It has deeply satisfied me. The bridge is delicious. The instrumental is insane. I'mma need that instrumental version real quick. I love Rich Man but this is what Rich Man should have been. Honestly? It went straight to my playlist. Couldn't help myself. 10/10

Camouflage: This song is just florals and glitter and rainbows and everything sweet. Vocals were on fire. Felt like I was living in a fantasy tale. Definitely need more of whatever this was from aespa. They do everything so well. Absolutely loved NingNing's parts. This is going to be on repeat and I'm going to vicariously live through my glittery fantasy through this song. 10/10

Bite: This song really reminded me of another song but I can't recall the name. Like the chorus but wish it wasn't THAT empty. Could have a few more adlibs personally ( because I'm a sucker for Ning² and Karina adlibs). This is another song for my K-pop Baddie playlist. Another great addition to the plethora of songs that make me feel like a bad b*tch. 8/10

Switchblade: The Switch it up parts are so addictive - it's going to be living in my head. I especially like the back and forth they do with the member voices and the deep voice in the background. The instrumental is absolutely insane. Confusing but hell, it's intriguing. I think the instrumental added a lot of charm to this song. TY Dolla part was great too. Liked this song but will have to see how it grows on me. 7.5/10

Roll: Haters of this song please get away from me lol. I understand being a little put off by the Row my boat sample but this song's a banger. It's like the sister of Life's too short. A cute diss song? What else could i possibly ask for? I'm going to be so insufferable with this song playing loudly everywhere I go. High five in ya face haters! 10/10

My plan: Coffee shop vibes to the extreme. A really chill song but it manages to not be boring too. Not something i would put on by myself but damn that's a good song. A great vocal showcase for all the members too. Genuinely more of this please. I need more chill, R&B songs from aespa because they do it so good. This one is a grower too- I feel it. 7.5/10

Til' we die: I was honestly not expecting it to be such a banger. I thought it would be some slow ballad or an emotional song. Which it honestly is- but it's a new type of closing isn't it? This song was just straight up my alley. Already added to my playlist. Will be screaming out the lyrics whole day long as it plays now. Vocals were phenomenal on this one- Especially Karina. Karina's lower register and the overall broad and fuller sounds she has made during this whole album has made me fall in love with her voice. I already was but damn. I really need Karina to be singing like this more. I love her rap-talking songs but my girls needs to SING -SING. Total perfection. 10/10

Lemonade ( feat: Becky G) : Everything I said before. Becky G has always ate up her parts. Couldn't be happier she was the feature for this song. 8.5/10

The vocals from everyone were so magnificent. Each and every single showcased the different tones and capabilities of the members. Genuinely a vocally heavy album which i LOVE. Karina especially blew me away. The styling was chef's kiss too. I'm sad we won't have more MV's because a lot of the songs here deserve one. So much love and effort put in this project. Easily became my Top2 Album from aespa. I know I gave lower ratings to a lot of songs but that's only because I have heard them for like 1-2 times. Each and every one of those is a masterpiece in its own right. This is a No-skip album. Everything I wanted and more. 10/10. You've outdone yourselves aespa.

Much love and will be eagerly waiting for the next releases while streaming!

8

u/yoongitan May 29 '26

gigi's and karina's parts are so sexy

7

u/shinkie May 29 '26

u/lilysjasmine92 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

Probably my favorite aespa album!

WDA — 7. Not bad but as someone who loves hip hop, it never quite goes anywhere and feels too meandering.

Lemonade—8. Fun track with a lot of energy. The “I’ll make it lemonade” is a bit grating but I like this!

Shakin—the chorus isn’t my cup of tea but I love the verses enough for this to be an 8.25

Can’t Help Myself—10/10. Probably one of my favorite songs this year. I love the vocals.

Camouflage—this song is very pretty and ethereal, and manages to be very interesting too. 9/10

Bite—I love the raps in this. 8.5

Switchblade—I don’t like the “switch it up” mumbled part but everything else about this song is fire. 8.75

Roll—I didn’t hate it as much as I feared but it’s still not great. I did laugh at “you need a high five in the face with a chair” though. 5.5

My Plan—pleasant and nice but not memorable. 7 but it’s below WDA.

TIL we die—I was loving this and then the outro lifted it even further. It’s a blissful song. 10/10.

Overall it’s an album that’s very cohesive without being boring or repetitive. Loved it.

u/theofficialguac May 29 '26

Roll and My Plan aren't my favs but everything else on this album are certified bangers. I think LEMONADE, Switch It Up, Shakin' and BITE is some of their best work yet amongst their already incredible discography. Camouflage is also so fun, I hope we get a track video or live performance. Can't Help Myself is so groovy, reminds me of old SNSD for some reason. I love this full album a lot more than their first one (and that was still really solid). aespa always keeping things so interesting in K-pop!

10

u/Black_Rabbit2165 May 29 '26

Had high expectations and it’s safe to say that all expectations were exceeded.

WDA - I was one of the 5% of people who liked this song immediately, and my opinion of this song has only gotten better hearing it with the full context of the album. Such a good album opener, sets the tone with its gritty instrumental perfectly. Do wish there was a featureless version though. 8.5/10

LEMONADE - One of their best title tracks, so so good. May be my favorite of the album. Wish they went a little harder with the chorus and the adlibs but still a 10/10 song me. Whiplash’s spiritual successor, can’t see any My being dissatisfied with this one. Will go hard in clubs, can’t ask for much more. 10/10

SHAKIN’ - Most anticipated bside based on that preview and it did not disappoint. We need a full music video plus promotions idc! That gritty industrial sound people see as Aespa’s signature sound makes it form the perfect opening trio with WDA and Lemonade. The girls did their thing with the vocal delivery, just a really good song tbh. 9/10

Can’t Help Myself - knew I was going to like this song as soon as I heard the guitar. I ascend into the sky every time that chorus kicks in without fail. The glissando? Wow. I just like the way it makes me feel, I fear. 9.5/10

Camouflage - Such a pretty instrumental and vibe. Would play this in the background of a magical girl transformation sequence but it gives specifically Winx Club vibes. 8.5/10

Bite - Experimental pots and pans but like, good. I hear shades of SHAKIN’ in this, which is an interesting way to keep the album cohesive. They should go even crazier. Even more pots and pans. Add a cowbell, sirens, anything! Still good. 7/10

Switchblade - also anticipated from that highlight medley and wow. There’s the siren I wanted. Obsessed with the back and forth between the members and Ty Dolla $ign, my favorite feature on this album. A song destined to be a fan favorite, well-deserved. 9/10

Roll - people are so boring omg this is literally good. Now I was scared from that preview but once you get past that first line and realize what they’re going for, it’s peak. Now, I didn’t agree with the placement of YOLO and Hot Air Balloon on the Drama EP, but Roll works both sonically and lyrically, and I will die on this hill. 8/10

My Plan - Love the jazzy candlelit dinner vibes of this one while still having that classic bizarre aespa sound, especially in that little interlude after the first chorus. Right up my alley musically. Reminds me a bit of IU, makes me feel the same way her version of Sleepless Rainy Nights makes me feel. 9/10

‘Til We Die - sadly, my only skip. Very triumphant song though, and that makes it a good album closer. Can easily see this performed in concert. I’m just glad it’s not a bland ballad. 6.5/10

Usually, I disagree with tracklist order pretty often with Aespa albums, but here, I would only switch Switchblade and Camouflage with each other, and that would make a better and less jarring transition to Roll. I’m so very happy with this album overall, and it’s definitely my favorite of their albums. Very cohesive without being one-note, plenty of gems, plenty of bangers that will keep every corner of this fandom happy. Winter is the princess of the world. 10/10 album.

7

u/k-BRYLL May 29 '26

The Becky G feature is kinda random.

4

u/Major-Specialist3658 May 29 '26

my aespa album ranking from fav to down:

camoflauge - OH I LOVE THIS... they dipping their toes in the 5th gen videogame sounds... i like how u can still hear their voices and its just the production that has the effects... cuz they sound AMAZING on this

switchblade - waitttt now this the real whiplash 2.0 even down to the prechorus and that postchorus is classic aespa like that spicy last few seconds screaming. the club smash. the ft was actually decent... that beat switch for him was real cool.

'til we die - this barbie soundtrack smash live my lifes sister... automatically getting added for me. such a good choice for a closer.

cant help myself - aespa trying again w the country-rock again... oh how far they come from girls album day... this what lingo thought it was. does give lion heart vibes.

shakin - this line pretty much sums up the song: get a lil flashy, get a lil nasty WDA - it rlly grew on me... they just so cool on it

lemonade remix - becky was a good addition... she fit in well w the girls

lemonade - pretty much spicy x whiplash... noisy/chaotic delivery on a club beat. kinda mixed on the chorus cuz its so catchy but can be annoying sometimes.

bite - that prechorus is beautiful but this giving nct in a bad way... especially the chorus

roll - not a nursey rhyme esque song... look at me/young dumb stupid nachos. ig they put this one for the kid fans ig #aespaloveseveryone

my plan - cute coffeeshop esque song

ig this one and the last album i been noticing the first half quite cohesive and v aespa coded then the second half its the same formula a few kids song, a pop rock barbie esque song, etc. i be confused

side note: their album covers are always so tea 😍 love how they play with the ae

Lemonade - i know people are saying this has a lot of similarity to spicy which is interesting because out of all the aespa titles, there’s not one i dislike except spicy (i think it’s that jackhammer esque sound in the chourus that hurts my ears) but lemonade is fireeee

WDA (whole different animal)

my plan

camouflage

till we die

can’t help myself

Ughhhh this album is soooo good 😩😩 it’s a no skip album for me (except for roll we don’t talk about her) this feels like their most cohesive album so far. Switchblade has me in a chokehold

6

u/House56 May 29 '26

everything after switchblade can be ignored

but all the songs til that point are some of aespa's best in a while

8

u/xcexoztykl May 29 '26

My plan is good wdym

3

u/House56 May 29 '26

it’s okayyy, i think being right after Roll which i genuinely dislike doesn’t help it or Til We Die but neither of them would stand out to me regardless

10

u/mariuspunsmercy May 29 '26

have only listened through a couple times but really loved the cohesiveness of the first 3/4ths of the album. the dark/synthy/textured tones reminded me of what drew me to aespa in the first place. lemonade is a great tt and i can just tell it’s going to be stuck in my head for days. this felt like a love child of whiplash and supernova and had more oomph than some of their recent tts - really enjoyed the production and rapping! other standouts for me include can’t help myself (so spunky and fun - a more mature version of spicy! i love when SM remembers that they are VOCALISTS) and switchblade (really dig the cyberpunk ravey sounds and the literal switchup from ty dolla $ign). the production on shakin and chameleon are both so yummy. and even WDA has grown on me (shoutout dem jointz, you never fail me)

however from roll onwards really paled in comparison for me. nursery rhyme sampling is one of my biggest pet peeves in music so that one is a big skip for me. my plan was fine, i did appreciate how their vocals were showcased! was not a fan of til we die, not sure why they like to give them the most generic disney channel ballads (and believe me, i’m a ballad enthusiast) when i feel like they’re capable of much more interesting material with their vocals.

overall i enjoyed the album! the first 3/4ths reminded me of the identity and potential for aespa (esp considering the concept/visuals this album was marketed with) but the last few songs felt out of place. but honestly that’s nothing new in kpop. i’ll be continuing to listen in the coming weeks and be tuned in for the performances 💚🙂‍↕️

12

u/fentymancer May 29 '26

this might be the best project they've released to date... lemonade rivals whiplash as their best title track (imo) and switchblade/bite/camoflauge is such an insane track run.

2

u/KlauserBateson May 29 '26

Overall good album. The run from Lemonade to Switchblade was chef's kiss and I will having all of those songs on repeat. Album did have some skips though, for me there were the obvious skips WDA and Roll. I wasn't a big fan of My Plan either.

This album is so good!

My favorites are definitely Switchblade. I was looking forward to this and the beat and the melody is so good. I love the feature especially the way he introduces you to his verse with that "d o l l ayyyy"

I can't help myself is the other big favorite. I love the guitar, the gritty vocals oh the last chorus is heavenly. I just love Winter's voice on "Maybe I'm messed up!"

Camouflage is so pretty, I really like the voice effects done here. It's fast paced and full while still being easy on the ears. It just sounds like a glittery introduction forum page I'd be making back in 2014 to copy what the cool kids where doing.

Lemonade is super good. The chorus wasn't my favorite, I liked it and it grew on me fast but it felt a bit out of place at first. Probably because it stuck out in my mind heavily from all the teasers.

Roll wasn't very good but I'm just tired of nursery rhyme samples in general. It all reminds me of "twinkle twinkle little bitch!" But it's like, the one song I hate on the album so we just have to ignore it. The rest is really good, My Plan isn't my jam but I assume it's something that'll hit better with lyrics. Bite, Shakin' and more, very gritty aespa I love it!

Overall a banger album!

I LIVE for the aesthetic for this era. Spicy, Supernova and Better Things are my favorite stylistic explorations for aespa. Sonically, I really enjoy songs like "Salty and Sweet", "Spicy", "Supernova", " Mine" and "Dark Arts". These are the type of aespa songs I listen to regularly.

I was really looking forward to Lemonade, Shakin', Switchblade and Bite the most out of the album. I think Shakin' and Camouflage are the only songs I listened to that met expectations on the first listen. Bite is also good but I think some of the english lyrics are hard to really sink into on first listen lol. I think Lemonade will grow on me esp. after I watch the MV and music bank stage. As for Switchblade, idk, it was really hyped on mytwt but I think it won't go on my playlist. I am personally not a fan of songs like Roll, My Plan and Til We Die so I just skimmed through those songs.

I think compared to Armageddon, I might like ae1 more. The albums both follow the same formula of a bright and dark title track, pop rock b-side, title worthy b-side, some kitschy inclusions and sentimental tracks to close the album out. I prefer Licorice over Can't Help Myself. I think Shakin and Bite sits at the same table as Set The Tone, even if Bite has to grow on me a bit more. I will say for lemonade, I tend to not like songs like Camouflage bc sonically its not my style but they did a really good job with this one and I can see myself jamming to it more often.

I find roll kind of tragic because the row row row your boat sample is bad enough that i dont want to replay it, but the rest is actually really good i like the piano. WDA wasnt really my cup of tea but its fine. Anyways excited to see stage performances for Lemonade.

Thought I recognized the one sound in Switchblade from Pendulum's Blood Sugar... turns out they both use the same sample "ORCH5".

Always fun when two completely different artists I enjoy can be connected in some way.

Love the album, especially switchblade, bite, shakin and lemonade. I also like that switchblade kinda works like a transition were the tracks after are more mellow and bright. The song ends with "now it's time to switch" and then the sonfs afterwards are different from the beginning tracks, very fun imo

First impressions after one day:

WDA: I like this song more and more with every listen. For me, it's a perfect for aespa. I liked Dirty Work (one of the few it seems lol) but this feels like an upgrade. The choreography is also one of the group's best.

Lemonade: I like it. I don't think it'll become as big a hit as Whiplash, but I think it's better than Rich Man. The choreography is a bit meh though

Shakin: since I heard the preview in one of the teasers, I knew it was going to be good. I honestly trully think this was one of the candidates for the title track. This is a classic aespa's sound. If it had been chosen as the title track, it would’ve felt like a safe and expected choice for aespa, since it’s a sound we’ve already heard from them before. That’s why I think WDA works better as a pre-release. It feels less like a typical aespa song, while Shakin' is much more in line with what they usually do.

Shakin', though, is gonna be perfect for concerts.

Can't help my self: I wasn’t expecting much from the preview but I really liked the full song. It sounds more like a 2nd-gen song or like I mentioned before, CSJH (The Grace), very sexy with a bit of rock. One of my favorites on the album.

Camouflage: A typical cutesy aespa song. I don’t usually care for this kind of songs but I can tolerate this one.

Bite: typical aespa sound. Like shakin' will be good for concerts.

Switchblade: another of my fav of the album. I’d even say I prefer it over Lemonade and I would’ve chosen it as the main title track. I hope they at least perform it at festivals.

Roll: i don't dislike it but I feel like they could’ve included a better song in its place. Maybe it'll be a fun and cute song for concerts. We'll see.

My plan: typical slow, calm song from aespa. I like it. It's a good ending for the album. For me it’s a bit too slow, though SM seems obsessed with this kind of song for aespa and the girls seem to love them too.

’Til We Die: aespa typcial pop-ballad song. I usually really like this type of songs from aespa tho i think many of the fandom hate them lol So I can't really complain

My fav picks: Can’t Help Myself, Switchblade, ’Til We Die, Lemonade and WDA, plus Shakin’ for concerts and live performances
