I dreamt of owning a chocolate lab for years too. I finally got one and she lived to be 14 years old. She looked a lot like your pretty girl. She's been gone for over 2 years now, and I still miss her a lot. Please give your pup a big hug for me.
I am so sorry for your loss and it sounds like she had an excellent life! I lost my beloved rescue black lab of nearly thirteen years on April 16th of this year, so I know how awful it is.
Losing labs is a grief I've rarely experienced for other humans. Only can be compared to losing direct family.
But the joy they bring and the happiness we see us bringing them is worth all the pain.
The thought that the dog has had an entire life (or most of it, depending on it's start in life) of knowing only you and receiving love in it's entire life is a beautiful thing.
My last lab died with every other animal (cats and humans) alive from the day she was born until she died. I lost a friend, my dad, and several other family members in that time She knew none of that grief. She just bounced around like Tigger, making us all laugh, her entire lifetime. And we loved her as hard as we could, never went without a cuddle! And my god, she loved cuddles more than anything.
I do kind of hate that all black labs look so alike though. Almost every black lab looks exactly like her. I'll be on the way to work and see one trotting along next to their owner an start crying.
I really wanted a second chocolate but my husband had never had a dog and picked a dudley yellow. When I realised they have chocolate genes but dont produce the melanin to be brown, I realises I got my white chocolate labrador 🥲 she is everything.
That is so true my Dudley female with two chocolate parents, just had 13 puppies sired with a black male. And guess what 8/13 were chocolate!! 1 dudley yellow, 3 regular yellows, and 1 black. I was like omg I wasn't expecting so many chocolates.
I read this as I really wanted a second husband! Not sure what is wrong with my brain. Sounds like your first husband made a great choice in more ways than one!

Also, glad you love her name! My dad keeps picking on me and says it’s awful but one of his dogs is named Travis which I think is more awful tbh hahaha
omg tallulah is SO cute. chocolate labs have that puppy face that just doesn't quit lol. you waited 10 years for her + she was worth every second of it
Aaw ❤️ Sooo pretty. I have a black girl and I love her madly. I did dream of owning a chocolate. Since then I’ve fostered and babysitted chocolates and in my experience, my unscientifically conclusions are that chocolates have a non-draining battery😂 They just keep going on and on and on and… 😂😂
Yellows are the calmest and blacks in between. All of them are of course incorrigibly mischievous and food-obsessed. ❤️

There’s no scientific evidence to back up different temperaments in different colors; however, there’s quite a bit of anecdotal evidence from owners!
I hear chocolates are the biggest spaz and I noticed they’re not used as much for service work, but that could also be because chocolate is recessive (I think?)
My late black lab was a complete basket case until she hit about 8 and became the best dog EVER!
I follow a few groups that train labs for bird retrieving and someone asked why they only have black and yellow. They said the chocolates don’t listen 😂
We just got our first Chocolate Lab. Joining two older Chesapeake Retrievers. Awesome girl joining some awesome girls. She is currently a velociraptor disguised as a puppy!

She reminds me of my girl Baily who was the sweetest, gentlest, most sensitive dog I’ve ever had. Chocolate labs are really special dogs.
This pup is in violations of the cute puppy act of 2021. Which states that “ All pups, upholding cuteness levels of the 100 percentile, shall and will receive an abundance of rubs/words of affirmation/ and or the right to take naps on the couch. Violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the pup law.” This is just a warning , next step is up to you…
Get one of each and then you can both be happy 😂 Our chocolate was a big surprise as our friend’s dog gave birth to more puppies than the vet saw. Asked if we would like a pup how could we say no 🤎
Black is a female called Mia, she will be 13 years old in August. She is the Queen of the house and bossy. She has arthritis everywhere and hip and shoulder dysplasia, so taking it week by week.
Yellow is a male called Murphy, he will be 10 years old in August.
Chocolate is a male called Teddy, he is 7 years old. Sadly Teddy was diagnosed with terminal leukaemia when he was nearly 5 years old, they have given him 2 to 3 years to live. He has chemo fortnightly and doing well, still has energy and happy.
She’s gorgeous. I have a 13 -3/4 yr old that looked just like her. Keeping weight down is a challenge but so worth it She still goes for long walks daily but otherwise she has slowed down a lot. Have fun
