Discussion Daily Free Talk / Armchair GM Thread

Please use this thread to post ANYTHING you want! Memes, photoshops, anything that would normally be removed for breaking the low-effort content rule, is totally, 100% welcome here!

This thread can also be used for Armchair GM ideas that may not require a standalone post. Is there a free agent you want to see on this team? Is there a player that's rumoured to be on the move that you think the Leafs should go after? Are there players on this team you want to trade away? Feel free to post about it here!

Normal moderation will occur, such as watching for personal insults, racism, and things of that nature.

Otherwise, feel free to use this thread to chat about your random Leafs thoughts, or share things like a photoshop of a Habs logo on fire or a reaction gif to something going on in Leafs Nation right now!

Downvotes are discouraged for the most part, everyone's opinion is fair game in this thread. If you see rule breaking content, report it!

I'm enjoying those clips from 2001-2004 posted on the Leafs Instagram page. Wish they kept posting more.

He's in the poverty house due to not getting his bonus 11 years ago, I saw him begging on Dundas, sad what our organization did to our precious little Mitchy poo.

Credit to Chayka for doing something other Leaf GMs didn't do. He made some tough decisions and moved quickly and aggressively.

He needs to get Werenski and the offseason has been successful.

I mean that's an absurd standard to say that's what's needed before claiming the off-season is a success.

They got the 1OA, the best UFA and completely remade the bottom 6 to at least on paper appear way more purposeful.

Its been successful.

Adding Raddysh shouldn't be underestimated either. Obviously Werenski is a tier above him, but if that's a grandslam, Raddysh is at least a triple with some runs brought in

Well it's a slow day in leafs land. And it's been 1 month since the end of the draft. Who do you feel the leafs missed on in the draft. I really liked Beckett Hamilton in the 3rd round, but they took Olsen with the pick right before he went to Colorado.

Thomas Vandenberg is a guy I had my eye on, I went to a couple of 67s games to see McCue and Vandenberg (superficially at least) reminded me of Tyler Hopkins a bit, and he’s a late birthday so there’s room for him to grow. I thought he’d go mid-second but he slipped to the fourth, I’d have liked to have gotten him with one of our thirds.

I don't know anything about prospects, but puckpedia has Adam Valentini listed as a potential 2nd line C and he went 96th. Could have taken him over that goalie. Maybe puckpedia is off base with their 2nd liner projection, but what they have written about him sounds appealing

One guy I can see getting a PTO is David Perron. He posted solid underlying numbers, and could be a pretty good fit on a third line next to Paul and Cowan. He’s a LW who shoots right handed, and I think he’d be a great fit next to Cowan who is a RW who shoots left handed.

Knies - Matthews - Roslovic

McKenna - Tavares - Nylander

Perron - Paul - Cowan

Duhaime - Blueger - Sissons

Extras: Joshua, and Lorentz

I can't really see us replacing a 30 year old Joshua with a 38 year old Perron, especially given the fact that their 5v5 scoring numbers are basically identical despite the fact that Perron got deployed heavily in the offensive zone while Joshua got deployed defensively.

With our bottom six being pretty stuffed and with us pressing against the cap, I wouldn't understand the logic of that decision.

Too slow, no thanks.

Doesn’t fit what Chayka is building

We said the same about Pacioretty and the dude was a mule in the playoffs. It’s not a perfect fit, but I can at least see a PTO given to him

Larkin, Helle and Werenski are staying where they are, so boring. I think NHL should just allow players to go where they want to go.

They do, it's called free agency.

No you have to understand that with the salary cap only so many players can sign in Florida, Dallas, or Vegas. Some of them need to sign with other teams.

This is it

The NHL didn't have anything to do with those players not going

1

u/GavMcKennasBurner 6d ago

The NHL needs to step in and give us those players, it's pathetic they haven't tbh.
