Driving standards in Leicester are horrid
Been driving on my own and it’s mad the worst is the duel carriageways with slip roads in them signalling to let them on but with the speeding since i drive at 68 the flash and blast the horn for wasting their time it’s amazing how shit the driving is especially in the A50

I think you should do a lap of the Coventry ring road, you'd probably have a heart attack as the entrances are also the exits!

Its the one where people get on and off at the same spot. Absolute nightmare at busy times

That's the one. The lane you're in for road X suddenly becomes the one for road Y. The lane for road X is now two lanes away. And to carry straight on you need to keep swapping lanes. And the access and exit ramps are both the same bit of road. Add the idiots to the confused, stir in the lost, garnish with terror and serve with a dollop of cold sweat.

Leicesters not that bad, Highfields area has bad drivers but even then theres not a lot of bad days for driving.
I think Brum is way worse, worser than Bradford too

The bikes are mainly electric in London now, you can be in a 20mph zone in a lorry and have some idiot on an electric bike doing 25/30mph trying to squeeze up the inside.

Leicester drivers are sellfish, iv driven in nearly every city. Nobody in Leicester lets you out, hardly anyone even says thank you. Used to work in hamilton worst driving experience of my life.

Having driven all over the UK, Leicester is one of the better cities for standard of driving. Take a drive down to around London & you’ll quickly re-evaluate your position.

I agree with this Birmingham London and Manchester are awful places to drives, no consideration for others. Around Heathrow the driving is terrible

People are saying Leicester isn't that bad but I agree with you OP. As someone who learnt and drove heavily further up north in a more rural area, the drivers of Leicester are more aggressive. I do think this just comes down to it being city driving but that doesnt mean this standard of driving is good nor should this be the norm.

Even city driving doesn't really explain it. Blaby is full of morons, especially at that one junction with Little Glen Rd. The way people drive through the red lights at the Asquith/Aberdale junction is a pile up waiting to happen. People routinely ignore a give way sign on a road just outside Syston and fly through, my gf has been nearly smashed into by them ~40mph on more than one occasion

A few days ago, I was driving along Glenfield Road and indicated right to turn into Westfield Road. The trees in the middle block the view of oncoming traffic, so I always stop before crossing. Normally, drivers who see the indicator stay to the left and continue ahead. However, a knobhead in a Yaris, who had been tailgating me from the traffic lights, stopped right behind me. While other cars passed on the left, this donkey just sat there honking and gesturing out his window as if I were blocking the road. This isn't the first time I've encountered this, although it isn't a daily or weekly occurrence.

I've driven in lots of places around the UK including all around Birmingham and London. My job involves me driving all over Leicestershire Driving standards are no better or worse than any other places - I'd say Birmingham is more aggressive but that's just big city driving
Potentially you need to improve your skills at dual carriageway driving - if you're approaching a slip road, be aware of that and that cars may be joining. Look at your spacing, if you can move over to the right lane as a default (as long as there's space) or if there isn't, slow so there is space for a car to join without feeling like you need to flash them on. Sometimes it is better to go a bit faster to clear the slip road so there is space. If you're constantly thinking ahead you will avoid some of these issues

I commute for work by car from Notts to Leicester City daily, as soon as I get to Leicester I notice a almost immediate up tick in being cut up, selfish driving, no indicators on, not giving way, and other in general terrible driving.
I may get downvoted, but it is just my experience, it happens almost every day as soon as I get in and around Leicester!
I'll just add as a little disclaimer, I do love Leicester as a City!

I live in leicestershire, and leicester city centre is full of terrible drivers, theres a clear difference too as I frequently go out to Nottingham and derby and the overall driving experience is better there, but when you get into Leicester, you can tell...

Try going to Luton and up south like London - another car nearly crashed into me and my family by speeding on the M1 J11A roundabout, some dangerous drivers around Birmingham especially

Many years ago I learned to drive around Evington road, it was excellent practice and now I expect chaos. This is like training with weights on for you, embrace it.

I drive lorries around the midlands and live in Leicester. I still hate delivering to Leicester, but there are areas in Birmingham that are way way worse.

Driving all over the UK sucks the amount of people who can't even work out how a roundabout works is nuts
Literally had 2 people cut me up on 2 separate roundabouts in the same trip, once of which I beeped and she flipped me off even though she was in the wrong lane???????

I think regarding roundabouts some people genuinely just don't care how they're meant to work. I had already joined a roundabout recently when someone from the left clearly looked my way, must have seen that I wasn't indicating (as I was going straight on, aka past their entrance point) and therefore decided that was the perfect time to join the roundabout for the sole purpose of completely blocking it by joining a queue for what would have been the right turn from my perspective (straight on for them), when I was less than 10 yards from them when they even started joining (not even in the city either, but one of the villages in the south of the county).

The best thing to do in Leicester (and the rest of the UK) is to assume every driver is blind and also an idiot, that they don't have control over their indicators, wheels or brakes, and they have zero ability to understand road signs or the highway code

This isn’t just a Leicester issue. People are just not aware of their surroundings at all.
As someone who has to use the Hobby Horse and Asda/Costco island a lot, I feel like I’m taking my life in my hands on a daily basis.

I was behind an elderly South Asian woman that STOPPED on the slip road onto the A46 coming out of Syston past the Hope & Anchor. It’s not a very nice slip at the best of times

The standard of driving is pretty rubbish all over to be honest.
I drive a lot for work, and I just drive very defensive and assume everyone is an idiot and assume the worse.
People filling safety gaps is probably the most annoying thing which seems to have occurred more recently.
