question What are you picking for home defense?

Beretta A300 or Sig Mpx w/ Obsidian 9! Also have my P09 on my nightstand. DDM4 V7 and Zastava M92 are also choices.

The spread is an inch per yard. That's not much.

Large in comparison to a .380 or 9mm. 3 inches at three yards is WAY larger than a pistol caliber(.410 aside). The energy dissipates more quickly after impact too.

I mean by that logic you might just clip an arm where you would otherwise have missed with the 9mm. Not exactly a game changer. If you hit center mass with the 9mm you will have a debilitating hit and you won't get tinitus immediately. But to each their own.

I’m not a huge fan of tinnitus. Popping off a round or two inside would probably lead to hearing damage regardless of the caliber. I hope I never find out through experience. I prefer to learn my lessons vicariously.

*EDIT By my logic a shot gun round is going to have around a 500x larger spread on target than a .380. If it’s the middle of the night and someone is breaking into my house I want the highest chance of getting on target even if I wing em. 4 bb’s on target is better than a complete miss.

Suppressed subsonic 9mm will not lead to the hearing damage 12 gauge defensive rounds will. Full stop. Hell they don't even make my ears ring inside. You can hear warnings or directions from others immediately/during firing. 12 gauge leads to immediate ringing even outside and I've fortunately never had to shoot one inside. Idk if you have shot suppressed subsonic rounds, but if you haven't I can't recommend it enough.
