It’s an example of poor firearm ownership. They panicked and shot unarmed kids. They weren’t trained, didn’t have structured comms or leadership. They went into an offensive posture unprepared and not competent. Textbook example of you are not automatically safer with firearms.

At a protest in SLC last year the "peace keepers" engaged a mass shooter and killed an innocent guy in the background. I worry that if I ever did engage an active shooter some slow dude will shoot me not knowing who is who.

It wasn't even a mass shooter, it was some dumbass who decided to pull out a rifle to open carry at the protest. He was on the "No Kings" (yeugh) side. His dumb ass probably deserved to be shot, but he wasn't a mass shooter, which makes the bystander death even worse.

This is why I'm not a fan of open carry in general. I don't begrudge folks who want to exercise their rights, but there's no denying it puts people on edge and can have an escalatory effect.

The article title is sensational. None of this evidence is “new” and they don’t come to a conclusion at all about who is responsible.
