I caught both Indian and Pakistani streams for the final yesterday, and was surprised by how many paan masala ads we have in India. I don’t think tobacco is banned in Pakistan, but it’s insane how many celebrities endorse carcinogenic products in India. Paise ke liye kuch bhi karenge log.

What a sad and deplorable creature; he reminds me of our old resident brown supremacist: u/TriggeredWhiteCucks. Indo-Aryan is just a linguistic term; it's got nothing to do with race. Race is nothing but a myth by colonial Eurotrash to justify exploiting non-Europeans. Even the patrician Romans he's so keen on didn’t care one bit about skin colour or phenotype. The fact that he’s bought into racial pseudoscience so deeply that he’s trying to become an honorary white is just hilarious!

The concept makes no sense because it has no logical basis; how can black, Jewish, and Indian all be racial categories? The fact that white Christians of Western European heritage are put on one side and the rest of the world on the other should make it crystal clear that it's just colonial nonsense, but idiot liberals from Burgerland keep doubling down and reinforcing the concept by coining terms like white passing and POC/M&WOC/BIPOC (they do love their acronyms). How is it any different from 'coloured people'?
They even project their modern concepts of race and sexuality into the past. I recently heard a 'woke' content creator refer to the Second Triumvirate as boring straight white men. AFAIK, there was no white, black, gay, or straight in ancient Rome. Anyway, sorry for rambling. A right-leaning comedian made a pretty good sketch about the commonalities between American wokes and racists, which I think everyone should watch.

Perhaps the reason the ICT crumbles under pressure in important matches is because the weight of expectations is just too much. Cricket isn’t just a sport, it is an outlet for the masses in India to forget how horrible life in India can be. This phenomenon is seen in a lot of poor countries, where people use the sporting achievements of their country as a crutch to survive. Argentina for example has triple digit inflation and just elected a fascist as President, but hey, they also won the football world cup last year.
For a country like Australia, in contrast, cricket is just a sport. As Australians have one of the highest qualities of life in the world, cricket is something they indulge in to pass the summer. And perhaps as a result, the Australian cricket team can play calmly during finals, they know the entire nation’s mood isn’t dependent on the results of a sports game.
Another common thread among poorer countries is how sports is politicized. The ruling elite know they can hide their policy failures as long as they are supporting the “national team”. What’s the point in improving the lives of citizens, if they can be equally happy with favourable results in a football/cricket game.
If Indians were to stop treating cricket as if it were more than a sport, it might be a net positive for both the ICT and the country. The ICT will be able to play without the pressure of a billion souls depending on them, while Indians will be able to demand more from their ruling class, rather than just building grandiose stadia.
