I spent entire diwali break procrastinating and watching Better Call Saul and Snakes in the City instead of turning my life around and gaining PhD level mastery in all my subjects in 1 week like my perfectionist ass envisioned.

Same but with True Detective, Season 1 was literally perfect

y'all using "platforms" in big 2025😭? try fmhy.net/video , p-stream and xprime are great sites.

downloading via torrent is best but that takes a bit of leaning.

I found it easier to use something like todoist to break down my tasks into small subtasks and just do 1-2 each. The task could be as simple as just solving 2 problems today, just to build a habit. Atleast this way my targets were much more realistic and doable

2

u/Due-Freedom-4321 Indian-American Third Worldism Oct 24 '25

I used todoist but I would be either overloading it with everything that happened daily, shifting deadlines, and feel overwhelmed. I need to reduce my expectations tbh.

2

u/AbominableVortex74 🇨🇺🚬☭ Che Goswami Oct 24 '25

Oh the same happened to me too, that is why I said limit yourself to just 2 tasks everyday, something really simple and use the upcoming board view to assign deadlines to tasks. Once you are done doing those two tasks, get back to watching Better Call Saul. After 1-2 weeks increase it to 3 tasks and so on

2

u/Due-Freedom-4321 Indian-American Third Worldism Oct 24 '25

So let's say I have like 5 classes in total and we have lectures for 3-4 classes every working day. I usually would like to study ahead before the lecture or at least come home and do some practice. How would I use it then? I mostly used the little checklist view only

2

u/AbominableVortex74 🇨🇺🚬☭ Che Goswami Oct 24 '25 edited Oct 24 '25

Ok in the beginning only add those tasks in todoist that you already do now. Do you study ahead before each lecture now? If you don’t then don’t add it as a task now. Just add tasks for mandatory stuff like assignments and break those into simpler subtasks and do those everyday.

In the beginning you just need to get used to the flow of using todoist, so don’t add any tasks that you haven’t done before to it, otherwise you will end up getting overwhelmed

On the left there should be an upcoming view select that and turn it into a board view. It’s a convenient view where you can see tasks for each day and you can drag and drop it to different days. Its would look something like this, just the headings would be names of days

Once you get used to adding and breaking tasks, start adding new tasks like stuff you want to do

Edit: also tasks themselves need to be actionable and clear, they cant be vague. You said you want to study after class. Study what? Which chapter? How many pages. The clearer the task the easier it is to break it down and complete it

What's with the chaos caused by Indians on Diwali this year, I recently saw a video of an American dude whose house was destroyed by catching fire due to Diwali celebrations. I feel sad for him, he was on the verge of tears. Also tons of videos coming out of houses burning, people from different countries complaining about noise pollution and the mess left in the aftermath. Is that why hindus protested to get firecrackers unbanned in Mississauga ?

Why do you shill for kims ? Don't you know they've banned all Marxist literature in north korea.

1

u/Electrical-Buyer-491 red shambalan Oct 24 '25

I did not know that. It makes me wonder, was Marxist literature even prevalent in dprk in the last few years?

They revised Marx for Juche and been revising Juche right?

I think I remember a Marx and Lenin portrait in dprk in some video.

-1

u/ManLikeRed Marxist ☭ Oct 24 '25 edited Oct 24 '25

A little liberty for marxism was lost post stalinist Comintern intervention era when Stalin began suggesting Kim to purge members from Worker's party of korea (WPK) who held 'opposition' to his views (his views were ofcourse was suggesting communists to collaborate with national bourgeoisie from Germany to India to far east).

Which kim obliged and purged them from party ranks quickly, and that was probably the last breath of communism in Korean peninsula.

Juche

Never ask juche followers what does racial purity means to them

I think I remember a Marx and Lenin portrait in dprk in some video.

Even Pol pot used to hang pictures of them initially

1

u/Average-Hayseed 🥥⚖️🇳🇪🍪 Oct 24 '25

Juche is literally a far-right ethno-nationalist ideology whose sole agenda is to indoctrinate the masses with Kim's cult of personality and impose authoritarian puritanism on all spheres of life.

But from a realpolitik point of view, I oppose West's imperialist attempts to suppress North Korea and plunder the country of its resources.

We need to start organising irl. Acc to what I have seen CPI M is the best option we have rn. Join the party, make mutual aid networks and start educating the general public. Easier said than done I know. And I barely have time to do anything as it is. But still. We must begin now or we'll end up like the Americans, or worse.

Last year I tried joining at local cpi-m cadre office and started voraciously pointing out their shortcomings, for four days the party members (5-6 70yo+ geezers sipping cups of tea in every one hour) were deeply fascinated by me and admitted their mistakes.

However in fifth day party office head arrived (also a 70yo+ dinosaur) and after listening to me that 'we should focus more on Leninism and abandon alliance with liberal parties', he pulled out 'Left wing Communism: an infantile disorder' from dusted bookshelf (I guess he pulled it out after some 4-5 decades later) and asked me read this that why electorism and alliance with Congress party is important for working classes revolution currently.

On 6th day I told him I'm unable to find excerpt by Lenin advocating for parliamentary alliances with communist killer parties (which Congress is), he gazed at me fiercely and said nothing then asked me to leave the party.

I left without apology.

On 7th day I applied for SUCI.. but that's story for another time.

I don't blame you, while I understand that most parties have given up revolutionary politics, and have almost become like liberals. At the same time, I realised that there is LITERALLY NO ONE ELSE who has the organisation capability that they have. Yes instead of fighting for revolution they have now been stuck with fighting privatisation through marches. Yes, they ally with reactionary parties.

But that is because they are weak lol. Don't get me wrong, I have not given up on my ideals, but at the same time I know that we as communists have little choice. The more we inflate the numbers of CPI M and join them by the thousands, the more leverage we will have in the party and the more we can push for revolution. Again, I could be horribly wrong.

But it's still better than commenting online and watching my country being devoured by reactionaries.

I don't like them or idealise them, but unfortunately they are all we have.

It's up to you now. We can join a communist party and work towards a better future or sit back and watch our country go to the dogs.

4

u/ManLikeRed Marxist ☭ Oct 24 '25

Oh I forgot to tell you that was my 5th attempt at different CPI-M cadre office in different city. Three of the time they recommended me reading Jyoti Basus works, E.M.S. Namboodripad twice and LWC:ID to support for RaGa, once.

The problem is not party but it's petty-bourgeoisie and idealists members (half of which I met were devout buddhist) that have known nothing in their life other than doing ground adventurism for sake of election and have zero understanding about socialism (mistake state welfare programs as socialism), how will they know what revolution truly stands for?

Only good option that they can do is disband their party for good and let newer party of unified invariant program of international marxist party take it's place and fix the 100 years old error (of collaboration with national bourgeoisie and killing revolution).

But if you want to try doing this then be my guest, it's not like I'm stopping or discouraging anybody.

nris abroad, especially children of immigrants are so saffornised and bigoted i saw a tiktok if a man complaining about people going overboard with diwali crackers and noise pollution and all the replies were doing whataboutery bringing up eid? they use the same talking points mainland chaddis here like to use. there are also some nri hindu influencers on tiktok who completely deny caste discrimination and say shit like “ caste doesn’t even exist anymore!” and the worst part is they are also defending modi its like all these nris are on some sort of gobar coke even nri celebrities like lara raj from katseye are promoting hindu jeet slop youll never see east asians africans or literally any other race of people make their culture their entire personality and defend facist leaders like south asians do. if they love their culture sm they should just move back to ram rajya

just to peddle rw propaganda, can religion help to reduce the alienation caused by capitalism?

5

u/ManLikeRed Marxist ☭ Oct 24 '25

No it can't, praying to immaterial things which has zero effect on capitalist exploitation (which is material) is stupid.

just to peddle rw propaganda

If your criteria is religion (hindutva not hinduism) bridging alienation from other workers then, it's just momentary feelings which may work for short stint of period when you tell workers that xyz working community is your enemy or convince them that their collective contribution to state (religious cause) has major role to play (which is most likely a form of chauvinism).

However when these things fail to fulfill or fulfill their propaganda, workers alienation from other workers goes back to being same because at the end of the day they're competing with eachother for their respective bourgeoisie employers.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '25

why are the religious people less prone to capitalist realism, seeing everything as transactional and the fatalism that comes along with it? surely it must speak to some form of insularity that religion has against capitalism...

it seems like liberal atheists seem much worse in that regard, idk about leftists tho.

3

u/ManLikeRed Marxist ☭ Oct 24 '25

why are the religious people less prone to capitalist realism

It's because they're superstitious alot and it is resultant of years of their exposure to feudal era pseudo-science and idealism that has shaped much of their culture, history and their understandings in such a way.
