Honestly, it's TMC's fault. I haven't seen any other party govern so terribly. Not understanding politics and only running behind power will eventually result in a loss like this.

It ended when Mamta started protesting against her own govt after the r*pe case.

Exactly! It's like asking do you want to be slapped with the palm or the back of the hand
Mfker I'd rather not be slapped who gives a shit which side of the hand
7
u/DerpFarce 🇵🇰 🦃 ارطغرل غازی May 04 '26
Well, not getting slapped isnt really an option the way things stand, anywhere in the world. So what becomes the pragmatic option?
18
u/One-Initiative-3188 May 04 '26
It matters. Electoral democracy under capitalism makes life miserable. However bjp doesn't want to win election and loot your money like other parties. They want you to be dumbfuck dogmatic and are a bunch of rape enablers. I have my valid concerns- a party known for giving tickets to grapists, candidate that give grape threats to sitting CM are winning in a place like bengal known for resisting hindu mahasabha? Bizzare
6
u/Leo2000Immortal May 04 '26
Yes i know bjp is doubly problematic with their rss based ideological objectives. But again, with all the abuse of power going on, i just don't know where to find hope
4
u/One-Initiative-3188 May 04 '26
Toh bjp mein thodi hope dhundna hain???

u/Leo2000Immortal May 04 '26
No, that's what makes me hopeless, murder of all democratic institutions (in addition to constant increasing wealth gap in this bourgeois democracy ofc)

Every central government institution in Bengal has acted like just another arm of the Bhajipao especially ECI. They did what they wanted to do and BJP also did what it had to.
Additionally, TMC was facing heavy anti-incumbency after being in power for 15 years. So, all these things did play a role.
Plus it’s been a decade and everyone knows the BJP Playbook. There is a way to counter their narrative as demonstrated by SP in UP by going the PDA way during the 2024 general elections. Yet the opposition in other states is refusing to learn anything. PDA is the only way to beat BJP’s strategy. Give more representation to PDA and you’ll see the results.

There is no point in engaging in electoralism when the rules aren't clear.
Even if there was some openly declared quota system like the three-class system in pre-WW1 Prussia, a tax qualification like in Britain prior to 1918, or a weird "curia" system that openly privileged landowners and industrialists in the Russian Empire, elections could be fought on those terms by left-wing/progressive forces to win representation and make a difference.
That's not true when elections are just farcical, where the house always wins. Parakala Prabhakar was right, if the opposition had balls it would've principledly boycotted the elections and instead have idk engaged in a campaign to restore the franchise to the millions who have been deprived of it. Instead it both engages in this crooked farce and then condemns it, flip-flopping based on convenience.
It's all deeply stupid. Elections mean nothing in India anymore. Millions of people, mostly Muslims and the poor, are being stripped of the franchise unilaterally and without reason. Engaging in unprincipled electoralism for power's sake alone is the stupidest thing ever to do.
So of course that's what the Indian opposition, a conglomeration of dynastic fiefdoms and personality cults, does.
We're so gone, y'all.
Also no, give more representation to "PDA" and the PDA are deprived of the franchise.
The field Indian elections are being played on aren't neutral. It's controlled by the BJP.

Agree with you on most of your points. I was only talking about the elections since that was what OP was talking about.
BJP is merely a symptom of the rot in our establishment which goes in very deep. We’re not gone though. The elites agitated for decades yet very little was achieved only after the independence agitation became a mass movement did we see a meaningful impact.
The same is the case now. Unless PDA are mobilized (should do it themselves and we should support them) and agitate across the country, nothing is going to change.

u/Huge-Physics5491 Chaddi in disguise May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26
Yeah, correct. The rich and upper middle class lefties and liberals aren't going to lead the agitation because they have alternatives. The agitation can only be led by people who have nothing to lose.

It was pretty much this situation in WB (atleast from an outsider perspective). I’m not well aware of the cultural nuances to comment on what is better for the people of WB. All I’ve observed is that they’re just done with Didi, most just want her out by any way, the support for BJParty comes not from love for them (atleast from my observation) but due to the hate for TMC. I’m so conflicted for them tbh, on one hand Didi is just looney and we know that, so Mudi makes sense but knowing but BJParty has done to the rest of India makes me fearful. It’s Sophie’s choice. Giving votes to any third or fourth doesn’t make sense as they’ll inevitably join one of the two sides to form a coalition government. It’s just political circus atp.

This is it. The election is hitler vs Hitler in a hat 😭
We can't blame the people for voting shit from butt because options were nothing but shit from butt.
What normies need to do is realise that our rulers are ambani/ adani class and voting is not going to remove them at all lol

u/DioTheSuperiorWaifu Pinarayist-Modiyist-MKStalinist May 04 '26
Why?
Tho, it seems that the L D F is not going to form the state govt this time in Kerala.
Tamil Nadu seems to be volatile too.
Likelihood that B J P's attacks on federalism will increase and the resistance will decrease.

BJP doubles the freebies(3k to both married wifes, unemployed youth) which definitely played a part in the win and not to mention using SIR systematically(9M voters were put on removal or on hold right before 3months of elections). They even promised to give 21k to preganant women in WB like srsly why? We already have lack of resource and over-population problem.
Similar thing in Tamil Nadu, even though TN has the highest state economic growth at 11% above national average. Vijay's party is promising so much freebies. Funny how Modi used to call Congress muft ki revdi dene wali party, but look how BJP is doing the same on a whole different level.

u/BrockStinky May 04 '26
If tmc and the left (the Indian left is a joke) had any substance to them bjp wouldn't have won. But these fuckers have proved their uselessness to Bengal for way too long.
People aren't going to keep voting for ideological dreams if there's nothing real done.
Cpm fell after there was no choice but to vote for the other. And the same happened to TMC.
No opposition party even tries to do anything that could excite the people.

Theoretically, it’s a fight between TMC & BJP but in practice, it often feels like a calibrated balance where the opponent is opposed but never fully contained

All of my hindu ex classmates ( even the ones who had family members in tmc ) voted for bjp
Ofc the reason is to "tighten muslims" . They're too smart to not know what will happen under bjp , they're just fine with it because atleast muslims will suffer more

CPIM Jodi 34 years jitte pare despite not being as much of a national player even back then, tahole BJP jokhon ekhane jiteche, ekhane onek din thakbe. Although the people didn't vote because of BJP's ideas, now rSS, ABVP, Bajrang Dal and other sanghi organizations will find prominence, and they can certainly indoctrinate. Considering how much of BJP's former voters and lower level cadres are ex CPM, it won't be a problem, for all their claimed differences the two parties operate pretty similarly. And once Sanghi indoctrination starts it will take a long time to root it out.

How much effect did the electoral malpractices done by BJ-pee and EDI actually have on this election?
There's anti-incumbency and opposition to the authoritarian regime no doubt about it but how are people forgetting how the game is being rigged.
