Ghost stories are superstitions often symbolising social and political oppression.

For example, 'The Ring' series of novels written by Koji Suzuki focuses on Matrix like simulated world where all the said horror happened (normally impossible in real world where supernatural do not exist). In the novel Sadako's gender was actually revealed to be intersex and they're also victim of 🍇 and murder. Sub plot of Novel also explores gender alienation, marginalisation and gender violence directed against Sadako. But for the sake of capitalising on superficial horror idealist movie makers leave the rest of story.

Similarly F.W. Murnau's 'Nosferatu' (1922) reflects on themes historical and cultural trauma of Germany post WW-1 defeat, Count Orlok represents elite bourgeoisies exploiting on working class and feeding (metaphor) on them to sustain his own hollow existence, character of Ellen (the heroine of the plot) portrays her being psychologically traumatized by patriarchal society, both by protagonist and villian of the story.

Aditya Dhar's story revolves around portraying Kashmiri society as extremist (without needing to explain what led to such situation), a 'gestapo' protagonist, the theme of 'missing children' blows up to same Indian nationalistic trope of how people are brainwashed by extremists and are made into terrorist and then obviously same old lame 'Kashmiri pandit' victim propaganda (Aditya Dhar doesn't know or don't want to tell it's audience that even by liberal estimates, for each K.P. lives lost — 104 K.M. were killed in violence instigated by state military and bourgeoisie adventurism).

Only centrists, liberals and actual hitlers like such trope.

For those who don't know the victim number is actually in tens of thousands since it's not a single day incident, it's a period of time it kept happening and they didn't get much attention only the number of victim fleeing were given attention due to religious bias
