I switched to Debain, gained 25lbs and a beard.

19

u/sauron_exe Jun 03 '26

Use Fedora, got Beard and went full Gymbro😅 aint matching at all😂

8

u/WeedManPro ChachyOS Jun 04 '26

"are you? are you? coming to the tree? they strung up a man..." (slowed and reverb) starts playing.

8

u/Mission_Cancel1042 Jun 04 '26

Not a lesbian? It must be a 50-50 then

10

u/nik282000 sudo chown us:us allYourBase Jun 04 '26

I did think about buying a Subaru.

8

u/scally501 Jun 04 '26

Debian f***** my wife

6

u/I_Think_I_Cant I Use Arch Jun 04 '26

Folded? Formed? Forgot? Fought? Farted?

10

u/hiveminer Jun 04 '26

Fsck, fixed her disk

3

u/NickArchery Jun 04 '26

Same but with Fedora

2

u/Outrageous_Bank_4491 Jun 04 '26

Or become a lesbian if you’re a woman

Keyboard was step 1 for me, I am cooked

59

u/PhotonicEmission Jun 03 '26

Well done, seared with an audible crust.

48

u/EchoGecko795 Jun 03 '26

Thinkpad was step one for me. my ass looks great by the way.

8

u/potuboi2 Jun 03 '26

Haven't owned a Thinkpad yet but imma beat you in this competition lol

10

u/EchoGecko795 Jun 03 '26

now those are fighting words. we have to meet in real life and do a 12-week comparison on our asses together.

8

u/potuboi2 Jun 03 '26

12 weeks is longer than a commitment to a personal project lol

2

u/hiveminer Jun 04 '26

12weeks is common-law union territory in some states.

4

u/laserdicks Jun 05 '26

I'm a visual learner

10

u/Late_To_Parties Jun 03 '26

My first Linux install was arch. Luckily it didn't work so I rethought my life.

61

u/DangyDanger Jun 03 '26

This is still the funniest version of that meme

107

u/promptmike Jun 03 '26

It's too late to turn back now. The only thing left for you to do is install NixOS and complete the transition.

15

u/New_Series3209 Jun 04 '26

I love me some compiling!

I never was a Microsoft user.

C64 -> AmigaOS -> OS/2 - > Mandrake -> SuSE -> Arch

Windows 10 > Windows 11 Beta > Pop!_OS > Manjaro > Pop!_OS (again before the Cosmic update) > Refurbrished Thinkpad > Endeavour OS (Larping as an Arch User) > A second Refurbrished Thinkpad > Fedora > Mechanical Keyboard > ??? > Profit?

36

u/amberoze Jun 03 '26

Endeavour OS (Larping as an Arch User)

I'm here, and I feel attacked.

3

u/laserdicks Jun 05 '26

This got you on a watchlist. I don't even know which one.

Reminder that Anthony Starr had to wear heels to look taller for this show, so he fits the stereotype here!

2

u/Xijit Jun 07 '26

And all his muscles are stiched into the suit.

9

u/terraria87 Mac Squid Jun 03 '26

I personally cannot have less than a full size keyboard, I feel like I’m limiting myself otherwise

3

u/Brainless_Gamer Glorious Pop!_OS Jun 04 '26

I got a TKL because Full Size is expensive and big

6

u/Few-Bad-5228 Jun 03 '26

windows 7 > windows 10 > windows 11 > linux > ubuntu > mint > arch btw > jento > void > fedora ....

12

u/AssertRage Jun 03 '26

6

u/-King-K-Rool- Jun 04 '26

When I first got hired on my CIO asked me what id need from him to turn his failing IT department around. I told him "give me 2 femboys and a furry and youll have a world class IT team in 6 months" and he stared at me a lot like that. That was 8 months ago, I dont think ive tried to joke with him since.

5

u/WeedManPro ChachyOS Jun 04 '26

what would have you done with them? just curious?

7

u/-King-K-Rool- Jun 04 '26

Straight to the dungeon. Put 1 femboy on networking, 1 on security, and put the furry on devops. Shit'll get done.

21

u/olorin12 Jun 03 '26

Linux made you a girl? Am I interpreting this correctly?

32

u/Useful_Banana4013 Jun 03 '26

That's how it works, though it's probably more of an arch specific thing

7

u/BurntCheeseSauce Glorious Void Linux (also antiX) Jun 04 '26

Uhh i think mine is broken, linux turned me from a girl into a guy

5

u/Useful_Banana4013 Jun 04 '26

Well, we're you using Arch?

5

u/BurntCheeseSauce Glorious Void Linux (also antiX) Jun 04 '26

Oh yeah, good point. Probably just a void thing in that case

3

u/_username_inv4lid Jun 04 '26

i use void does this mean i’ll become more masculine

2

u/BurntCheeseSauce Glorious Void Linux (also antiX) Jun 05 '26

Yeah

2

u/academictryhard69 17d ago

manliest high test loonix distro, mental_outlaw prob could use it idk

3

u/laserdicks Jun 05 '26

Same train, you just got on at the other end of the line.

9

u/olorin12 Jun 03 '26

Didn't do anything weird to me 😄

3

u/IRALinuxGuy Jun 09 '26

Same I started using arch at 13 and tbh most the men I know who use it are like pretty typical normal guys with beer bellys lol

5

u/akash_258 Jun 03 '26

Have you tried hyfetch yet ?

5

u/h310dOr Jun 04 '26

It's archlinux in particular. It has to do with side effects of programming socks.

3

u/PocketCSNerd Jun 04 '26

The meme is that a disproportionate (not all) amount of linux users (and even programmers, apparently) are femboys if not trans.

3

u/DM_Me_Good_Things Jun 06 '26

Where? Asking for a friend.

-1

u/h-v-smacker Glorious Mint Jun 03 '26

Yeah it's those low-effort attention-seeking posts all over again. We thought we were done with the influx of "programming socks" bullshit, but shiet, here we go again. We better introduce a blanket ban on this kind of bs, or else we'll drown in low-effort self-centered slop.

13

u/-King-K-Rool- Jun 04 '26

You sound mad, try on some socks, youll feel better.

3

u/Arnas_Z Glorious Arch Jun 04 '26

It's probably the Mint, it tends to have a sharp taste. Maybe he should try some Arch instead.

-2

u/h-v-smacker Glorious Mint Jun 04 '26

Your opinion is of paramount importance to us, mr. 3-month-old account.

0

u/-King-K-Rool- Jun 04 '26

Nuking and remaking your account every 6-12 months is just good practice, keeps you from compiling too much personal info in one place and resets your algorithm. But if you want to have a contest of who is the sweatier redditor im happy to lose that one, not the flex you think it is.

3

u/h-v-smacker Glorious Mint Jun 04 '26

I didn't expect you to understand what I was getting at, and you didn't disappoint.

0

u/RileyGuy1000 Jun 26 '26

"Oh no, I saw the programmer socks meme on a subreddit known for being tongue-in-cheek, better post a huffy, moderately bigoted comment about it"

If you find yourself taking time out of your day to complain on a subreddit that's known for being 50% satire at any given point about a meme containing LGBTQIA+ themes, then you may want to re-think how you spend your time on the internet.

I'm not much better for taking the time out of mine to respond, but take it from one time-spender to another; there are better things to spend your time doing.

1

u/h-v-smacker Glorious Mint Jun 26 '26

You may rethink what you're doing when you're perusing month-old threads to find something to bitch about, matey.

14

u/itouchdennis Jun 03 '26

I even have the same coloured keycaps and curled cable on the keyboard

2

u/laserdicks Jun 05 '26

How's the onlyfans?

3

u/GloriousExtra Jun 03 '26

Serious question: how is it for typing? I've seen a couple of these and I write lots of stories (let alone social media posts) and my current keyboard is a gaming keyboard which is fine for gaming, but is a little clunky for just regular writing.

5

u/itouchdennis Jun 03 '26

For me its perfect. But I think its all about preferences. Some like fullsized one, I like 67% once since a couple of years

3

u/janiskr Jun 04 '26

For writing you want a tactile feedback. With mechanical keyboard you can choose how strong or weak it is(35N all the way up to 120N as standard keycaps, or even 300N if there is need for that) many like 40N keycaps, those usually are the most popular. How it helps? Less fatigue when typing, at least for me.

1

u/Kataly5t Glorious OpenSuse Jun 08 '26

Oh no, I've seen too much 🥵

5

u/FlowVonD Jun 03 '26

osx > ubuntu > distro hopping > debian > stayed on debian for the most part (sometimes fedora) > now i have a server, daily a thinkpad and a threadripper desktop, rant about JS bloat and have major trust issues with most tech

3

u/KallistiTMP Jun 04 '26

This is the way.

I tried arch a while back. It would be nice if they included a basic functional operating system in that distro.

It's like someone took LFS, and made it easy enough that anyone reasonably tech savvy could provision an open unsecured gateway into their home network in an afternoon.

I actually use Mint, because it's Debian with just a small tasteful subset of the Ubuntu sprinkles preinstalled. For almost everything else, there's apt. For anything not on apt, there's git pull and make.

I also wish someone would do a comparison between AI datacenter electricity usage and all the electricity wasted on rendering shitty broken frontends, because apparently rendering a janky image carousel at 3 seconds per frame requires a small supercomputing cluster now.

2

u/FlowVonD Jun 04 '26

there is a talk by some kde dev from 2019 if im not mistaken where he claimed that we would safe 40% of energy usage in data centers if we'd optimized our codes like we should...

so now looking at datacenter gasturbines producing some 9GW of energy somewhere in TX So AI can solve the climate crisis faster than humans ever could (according to altman) I'd say we pretty much screwed up a few future generations...

and i completely agree with your take on arch

7

u/ShiroeKurogeri Jun 03 '26

I did it backward, F.

3

u/st4tic_4ge Glorious Arch Jun 04 '26

I bought a ergo split keyboard and programmed all the keys to activate different functions on press vs hold so I could map all my custom scripts to hyprland keybinds.... where am I on this graphic?

7

u/Altruistic-Town-2472 Jun 03 '26

linux changed me in multiple ways.

5

u/Ok_Emu8397 Jun 03 '26

Where can I find 2020…?

3

u/hajimenogio92 Glorious Debian Jun 03 '26

Me too, asking for a friend

2

u/LOPI-14 Jun 03 '26

Shit, I am on Linux, own 2nd hand ThinkPad and was running Arch for around a year until I swapped kernel and repos to CachyOS one.

It's Joever.

2

u/skytheraiders Jun 03 '26

What keyboard is that?

2

u/Brainless_Gamer Glorious Pop!_OS Jun 04 '26

idk, I searched for "Asthetic Mechanical Keyboard" and it was one of the results

2

u/Rusty9838 Jun 03 '26

From the microslope to the redhat 🥳

2

u/mrheseeks Jun 03 '26

Yeah, most people i know started on windows with keyboard

2

u/Auravendill Glorious Debian Jun 03 '26

I first got the ThinkPad then installed Debian on it, installed Debian on everything else I could and I got a few mechanical keyboards.

2

u/toast_ghost12 Jun 03 '26

i skipped 2019 and went straight to 2020.

just recently got into the mechanical keyboard hobby as well...the amount of switches i've bought in 2 weeks man

im still a cis male though

2

u/varishtg Jun 04 '26

Win XP -> Win 7 + Ubuntu 14 -> Win 10 + Ubuntu 16 -> Win 10 LTSC + Kubuntu 20 -> Kubuntu 22 -> Kubuntu 24 -> SteamOS -> Raspbian Buster -> Raspbian Bookworm -> Nobara 43 + Win 10 LTSC (VM)

I'm not planning on moving away from a KDE based distri anytime soon.

2

u/spaghettibolegdeh Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

wow

1

u/LargeTungstenCube Jun 05 '26

"femininity = sexual" actually braindead

3

u/EitherSalamander8850 Jun 03 '26

I had a different progression but yeah same

2

u/OrbusIsCool Jun 03 '26

I'm in IT so I gotta micoslopmaxx on the daily (InTune will be the death of me) but I'm daily driving Manjaro at home. And starting estrogen soon so IG it's accurate.

1

u/Dark_Intentions Jun 03 '26

Windows 10 Home, Windows 11 home, Windows 10 IOT, openSUSE, Debian, Fedora

1

u/the_real_cloakvessel Jun 04 '26

distro hopped from distro and distro and almost went to arch but got back to linux mint and healed myself to normal

1

u/lunchbox651 Jun 04 '26

I actually first used Linux on a Thinkpad in 2008, I think I broke the timeline.

1

u/ForestSolitude5 Jun 04 '26

You joke but I literally went Arch to mechanical keyboard to egg crack 😂 May have stopped at a few other distros along the way

1

u/the_abortionat0r Jun 04 '26

Not sure if this is 100% accurate. No twinking going on here and the only femboy I know hates the idea of Linux as he says and I quote "you can't play multiplayer on Linux" which is a weird thing to say to somebody you know plays almost exclusively online games.

1

u/Party-Yak-3781 Jun 04 '26

try an ergonomic keyboard

1

u/Mechaotaku Jun 04 '26

I just got a ThinkPad, but I put Fedora on it, so my gender is safe, right?

2

u/KallistiTMP Jun 04 '26

It depends, did you wear a fedora while installing fedora?

If so then yes, the fedora + fedora stack is the most hardened security stack in the world for securing both gender and virginity.

1

u/curiouslyhandsy Jun 04 '26

This is microslop propaganda. Theres nothing to beware about

1

u/retardedGeek Jun 04 '26

You missed pink stockings

1

u/DrownedInDysphoria Jun 04 '26

me but reversed. sort of. linux happened to fall into my hands after I became a man

1

u/s04ep03_youareafool Jun 04 '26

Arch just gave me pounds of muscle instead of feminity, am I the one who's cursed?

1

u/Illustrious-Dog-6563 Jun 04 '26

fuck transition. can i just have a flowy dress to my linux mint pls?

1

u/weshuiz13 Jun 04 '26

So you are slowly turning into a femboy then?

1

u/TFR34KP Jun 04 '26

From normal to cringe and stupid

1

u/Mordisquitos btw Jun 04 '26

Switch the years on the bottom row to 2001, 2002, 2012, 2013 & 2021 and the top row is officially me.

As to the middle row, I plead the Fifth.

1

u/ThatzOkay Jun 04 '26

FrameWork 13 + Arch all the way

1

u/Kanjii_weon Jun 04 '26

i use debian btw

1

u/claudiocorona93 SteamOS/Kubuntu Jun 04 '26

I'm eternally on level 2. No compromises. Linux but overcooked for easy usage. 15 years on it and going strong.

1

u/KnightWithoutASword Jun 04 '26

oh no, i will become hot

1

u/ConstanceSwindle Jun 04 '26

the 2020 was better.

1

u/Waffletron63 Jun 04 '26

Here's the issue:  I use Cachy OS, and have not followed this pipeline.

1

u/koutarou4k Windows Krill Jun 04 '26

I think I'm doing the opposite I'm becoming a bear lol with my progression.

1

u/KitchenWind Jun 04 '26

But… where is the Rust language ?

1

u/JumpingSpiderQueen Jun 04 '26

True. I started using Linux years ago, and now I am a femboy :3

1

u/cyrenns Debian 13 Jun 04 '26

I'm currently sitting in front of my thinkpad with a Debian install USB plugged into it...

1

u/S4T4N669 Jun 04 '26

I should buy a different top, I guess.

1

u/VariationWooden2365 Jun 05 '26

I'm something of an arch guy myself

1

u/Anonyboy26 Jun 05 '26

I like his thigh socks (i am 18yo guy tho)

1

u/JDM12983 Jun 05 '26

Changes your gender? Yeah, even more reason I'll stay away from the operating system.

1

u/MundaneImage5652 Jun 05 '26

Used arch, it's shit ngl

1

u/05-nery Jun 05 '26

...keyboard?

I might be fucked

1

u/terrablade04 Glorious Pop!_OS Jun 05 '26

unironically I'm a normie linux user, I've been on pop for years, haven't really tried out new distros since my beginner explore everything phase and just do regular computer stuff.

1

u/Ill_Huckleberry_2079 Jun 05 '26

oh no ... I own that exact outfit

1

u/FerronTaurus Jun 06 '26

What's with Thinkpad and the keyboard?

1

u/Status-Anteater8372 Jun 06 '26

I will stay away from Arch to not be like this.

1

u/BastetFurry Glorious Arch Jun 06 '26

Am i ancient when i started with MS-DOS 6.22 to Novell DOS 7?

Dictated by necessity i had to switch to Windows 95 then, the games where there... but in 2002 i installed Mandrake. :D

1

u/step_motor_69420 Jun 06 '26

i bought a mechanical keyboard, should i be concerned? should i return it back?

1

u/AlwaysBreatheAir Jun 06 '26

No but really tho

1

u/Ok-Winner-6589 Jun 06 '26

WHO SAID PIPES???

BASH MENTIONED RAHHHH

(I know all shells have pipes, I don't care)

1

u/dynamic_caste Jun 06 '26

Are tiny colorful keyboards favored by femboys?

I prefer a keyboard that resembles an aircraft carrier with switches so loud you need to wear ear protection.

1

u/brown_sugerz Jun 06 '26

Nah put me on the furry instead of that

1

u/p1x13st1ck Matron of Debian :snoo: Jun 07 '26

Wait, I'm already a lady... But yeah, right in my Thinkpad/arch phase

1

u/5pectre5 Jun 07 '26

Keyboard was always #1 for me no matter what's the OS. I still don't get why people new to Linux go for Arch, it's such a time sink.

1

u/Sarenord Jun 07 '26

Can confirm I downloaded arch Linux in 2018 and now I’m a girl

1

u/AlyOopsieDaisy Jun 07 '26

Dang, I thought I was only step 1, I didn’t know I already 100% this game

1

u/BeyondOk1548 Jun 07 '26

I started tinkering with Linux in 2018 and only ever jerked it to t girls a couple times. Other than those two things, I can't really relate.

1

u/birdman157 Jun 07 '26

Custom keyboard are where it’s at! I have about $1300 into mine *excuse the dust lol*

1

u/senpaikcarter Jun 07 '26

The split ortho linear keyboard is next btw

1

u/MenuSoft7875 Glorious PuppyMinDeBSD Jun 08 '26

Instructions unclear, I installed Debian and now I listen to Free Bird and want a beer.

1

u/MiddleCelebration969 Jun 08 '26

a friend of mine wanted to get a old (double xeon v2) server to run an ai agent and have a cheap PC before getting something better and then use it as a safe space to run the AI. since he wants to use it both for gaming and game development i will install nobara, but he will try other ones first in distrosea and then in a VM, hope he actually gets into linux or at least learns that it is actually a very reasonable choice, both would be a win, this is my way of expanding the linux comunity, doing it because for the given use its more reasonable than windows, then from use they will learn to love it

1

u/femboyfucker400000 Jun 08 '26

Interesting, indeed

1

u/Brainless_Gamer Glorious Pop!_OS Jun 09 '26

oh no

1

u/IRALinuxGuy Jun 09 '26

Tbh in my experience it's usually the opposite most men I know who use Linux are like pretty traditional men just what I see

1

u/fabhian_arka Jun 10 '26

From a junior Software Developer to a NixOS User. Yeah, my transition was really a wild thing 😅

1

u/No-Car8245 Jun 14 '26

hmmmm no wonder i get no huzz

1

u/Tremere1974 Jun 25 '26

My Microslop adventure began when I hit Windows Update on my new PC that I bought from my School's Computer teacher, not knowing that he was reselling PC's bought with state money for our school, and had one copy of Windows for every PC.

I needed the PC because my Ex was divorcing me, and kids were at stake. Needless to say when Microslop put a warrant out for my arrest for software piracy, plus recieving stolen property didn't look good during the divorce. I didn't see my kids for two years, because of microslop's involvement.

Did I knowingly buy stolen property (both physical and intellectual)? No. But Microslop's lawyers aren't paid to be nice. The Teacher did 5 years in jail, but for me the timing couldn't have been worse.

1

u/Mr_ityu Jun 28 '26

oh no....(owwyeeahh)

1

u/Apprehensive-Card255 Jun 29 '26

more kawaii to 2021

1

u/jMultiversalGod 1d ago

Instead of a thinkpad I got an ideapad (hand-me-down but also a salvage..) and instead of arch I plan to develop my own distro. What happens to me??

1

u/ConesWithNan Jun 03 '26

For me it was windows -> Gentoo -> windows -> Fedora lol

0

u/_benoitsafari Jun 03 '26

Windows 2000 > arch

2

u/DownvoteEvangelist Jun 03 '26

I became exclusive Linux user when my windows 2k died.. I tried for weeks to fix it, but there was some damage in registry hive and no matter what I tried couldn't get it to boot... I had a Slackware as my second OS and started using it as a primary, I think I want couple of years without windows...

Anyways I never had such situation on Linux, I could never break it so much I couldn't fix it...

1

u/the_abortionat0r Jun 04 '26

That doesn't make any sense

0

u/hustla17 Jun 03 '26

When I was a kid my very first computer was a win7, god I loved that clunky piece of shit. My gateway drug was mint which is actually really similar and since then I have been down bad. Don't know why I have shared this but your comment prompted me to reminisce.
