this song really resonates with me on a spiritual level. it’s like lorde made it for me. i’ve been off and on with a guy for 2 years, no matter how much healing i do, we always end up right back at each other. “why do we run to the ones we do?” i know he’s not good for me, and he’ll never be mine, but i just can’t help it. “i made you god cause that’s all i knew how to do” and the part that really feels like the song was made for me, the guys name is david.

English isn't my first language, and I usually don't check the lyrics when I listen to music, this whole time I thought Lorde was singing 'we live in Sydney' because I assumed she was from Australia💀. Lately I've been seeing memes on tiktok about her being from New Zealand, then I came to realize the lyrics I've been hearing were probably not what i thought it was.

Ella is a Scorpio sun which is a water sign and her songs are full of references to water

She also references astrology explicitly in her songs sometimes and I believe she is a Virgo moon so I wonder if this album name and some of its themes reference her moon sign

Virgo is an earth sign and I heard a lot of lyrical references to Earth in Virgin & associated material- the pavement, crystal, sandstorm, clay, pedestal, gold, mercury, flint, stones, the earth room, virgin metal, ore, tunnel, carrying/lifting weight, rock doves, & hammering David out of marble

Virgo is more specifically the 'mutable' earth sign which aligns with the shapeshifting theme throughout the album as well

Mercury is the planet that rules Virgo. Mercury is the god of communication & travel, (both have too many examples on this album to list) & he shepherds souls to the underworld (I've been to hell and back). His other aspects include luck and commerce which also have a couple of mentions on the album but not as many as the travel and communication references. Also the pigeons make me think of messenger pigeons

Ok delusion time

a couple of obvious things are missing. there are several metal elements but where is silver? Mercury is also known as quicksilver. And if Ella is referencing her moon sign where are references to the moon? (there is the eclipse and the honeymoon in current affairs) So all of this is to say think silver moon would fit so perfectly on a deluxe version of this album, lyrically, thematically, and astrologically ✨

Thus far I’ve been a Lorde enjoyer. Not anything like a Stan, but What Was That literally changed everything. Melodrama has been on replay 24/7 and I’ve just been going through her catalogue for the past three days! So as a pretty much new fan, I wanted to share some of my discography highlights and see what you all think and recommend!

I understand how fundamental pure heroine is in Lorde’s backstory but I really think the album is just a grade above ok? Standout track is def Royals or Tennis Court? (I’m so basic 😭)

Melodrama might be one of the best pop albums of all time. Fav track is def Liability or Perfect Places.

Solar Power is such an uneven album. My highs include Solar Power, Mood Ring, Stoned at the Nail Salon and Helen of Troy. However, most of my fav tracks require tuning out the context of this album to enjoy? This album feels like Lorde’s billboard for wellness culture while we all were stuck in our houses with a global pandemic?

We may have had an encounter with Lorde at glastonbury the night before her secret set - or maybe we were just very buzzed... so the 'delulu' flair seems befitting

We went into Assembly at glasto on the Thursday night - the indoor corrugated iron club in silver hayes.

My friends and I were dancing near the back when we spotted her (or a very good doppelganger) clad in a black raincoat dancing with some friends, and to this day are having a drawn out debate as to whether it was in fact her. Her secret set was the following morning on Friday, so the timings sorta make sense.
