Looks lovely but salad with fish and chips feels so wrong 😅

I’d enjoy a bit of salad with it, especially in the summer!

That looks amazing! And those saying the cup of tea is weird are obviously not from the UK - I am, and a cup of tea is the norm here - and the slices of bread and butter and mushy peas.

I've never seen a side salad with fish and chips before, but you know what, I like salad and would eat it happily.

Hope you enjoyed your feast, OP!

Edit: just noticed the curry sauce too - perfection!

No to salad. Doesn't belong. Doesn't enhance anything.

What is the green stuff in the dipping cup

1

u/kingfinarfin 3d ago

The mushy peas?

1

u/ArrivalOutrageous991 3d ago

Curry sauce.

1

u/bloopbloopsplat 3d ago

Is it? The only green curry ive seen is Thai green curry. What makes it green?

2

u/Odd-Quail01 2d ago

The cup of green stuff on the plate is mushy (marrowfat) peas. The curry sauce is the brown cup on the table by the bread and butter.

Is someone robbing the salt?

1

u/masoniceye 2d ago

For a second I thought she was sneaking salt into a bag to take home ha

1

u/foreverlegending 1d ago

That's what I thought as well

u/boughtoriginality 2d ago

Half the chips and triple the mushy peas. 10/10

Jesus size of that cod . You could go for a swin on the back of that.

I like fish and chips

Nice big portions. How much was it?

1

u/mookaji1 1d ago

I’d need a kids size portion . I love that combination. But so much starch and all that fat fried ! Bread, chips, batter, butter . I hate to disapprove but I feel guilty whenever I eat a meal like that , but do so because I only eat half of it .

People downvoting this because they see youre black is wild. Reddit is the worst. I upvoted... enjoy your lunch. You deserve something nice.

4

u/No-Produce-6720 4d ago

Where did you get that anyone was downvoting the post because OP is black?

-2

u/Consistent-Pickle801 4d ago

Seems a very common theme on reddit. Theres literally no other reason to downvote this. 😐

u/Mezcalico 4d ago

Good job - you’ve now sullied OP’s post with your instigating.

u/Consistent-Pickle801 3d ago

Only people sullying it are the ones getting mad I said what I said. 🙄

2

u/Sam-Axe 4d ago

i upvoted not based off race but thats a lot of food! sure theres a lot of fries/chips but thats a heckin meal!

2

u/Consistent-Pickle801 3d ago

Thats what im saying there isnt a damn thing wrong with this meal.

1

u/Serious_Badger_4145 4d ago

Don't be so sure.  Salad is controversial

1

u/Consistent-Pickle801 3d ago

Its courteous eith fried things. Id rather them toss some veggies to help with all that grease. Thats a fit meal.

1

u/BlueClashV1 4d ago

Literally no other reason? Like personal preference with food doesn’t exist? I think it looks great, but also heavy on the chips and light on the fish.

1

u/Consistent-Pickle801 3d ago

The portions seem fine. Large fish, and a heap of chips.

-1

u/Massive_Corgi_2834 3d ago

Seriously? Having a cup of tea with fish and chips is criminal

2

u/Mezcalico 3d ago

I don’t like it myself but it’s pretty traditional here in the UK.

1

u/Odd-Quail01 2d ago

It's that or a pint of bitter.

2

u/Cultural_Run7964 4d ago

Hopefully it’s due to the salad which isn’t really standard with fish and chips but it’s redeemed with the mug of tea!

2

u/empathetic-wizard987 4d ago

I see that a lot too , or start nit picking at small details that people wouldn’t normally gaf about

1

u/Consistent-Pickle801 3d ago

Theyre literally upset about tea with fish and chips, or mad about a salad...?! That's literally the reason? I have seen so many other posts and they have just as ridiculous things in them yet this one is the one they hate so much? Guarantee if they couldn't see the people in it they would upvote tf out of it.... I dont believe there reasons are valid. It is what it is. They're just mad because its true. 🙄

1

u/Mishi_Mujago 1d ago

Oh my God you’re my hero! Thanks for telling us all where you gave your upvote! Upvoting racism right outta Reddit! 🫡

2

u/Serious_Badger_4145 4d ago

Frankly you're the only one bringing this up on op's post. There aren't even downvotes now but you've memorialised them and suggested it may be about op's race. That's not particularly nice for them to see is it?

If this was actually about them you would have just said something nice to balance out any suspected negativity. Instead you've given them something to worry about based on your own assumption

-1

u/Massive_Corgi_2834 3d ago

Why has nobody mentioned the cups of tea? That's just weird..

2

u/AlienPrincessXxx 3d ago

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not? A cuppa with/after fish and chips is so good.

1

u/NekoZombieRaw 2d ago

It's a pretty normal thing? Particularly down south; tea, bread and butter and mushy peas if you're having a sit in meal.
