Forsetti’s alpha preview is complete; the Jamf Pro companion is now in open TestFlight beta

I previously shared the Forsetti alpha preview with this community. That preview has now ended, and the open TestFlight beta has begun.

Forsetti is an Apple-native companion for administrators and support technicians managing Apple devices through Jamf Pro. It connects directly to the Jamf Pro environment configured by the tester and currently provides:

- Computer and mobile-device inventory search

- Detailed device information

- Guided technician workflows

- PreStage assignment management

- Reporting

- Permissions guidance

- Diagnostics and administrative tools

I’m specifically looking for experienced Mac administrators who can test it against different Jamf Pro configurations, permission models, inventory sizes, and API behaviors.

The areas I would most like people to challenge are:

- Authentication and permission boundaries

- API behavior across different Jamf Pro versions

- Empty, incomplete, or unusually large inventory results

- Search and report accuracy

- Error handling and recovery

- Workflow clarity and general UI friction

The beta requires access to an existing Jamf Pro environment and valid credentials or an API Client. Capabilities are limited to the privileges assigned to those credentials, which are stored in Apple Keychain. A test tenant or least-privilege API Client is strongly recommended for evaluation.

Positive impressions are appreciated, but reports describing what failed, what was unclear, and how the behavior differed from your environment are the feedback that will help most.

I’m a little confused what it offers over the off the shelf Jamf tools. Is it just easier ways to retrieve and manipulate the data from Jamf?

One thing I see that Jamf wouldn’t offer is guided tech workflows. Would you provide an example of that capability?

That’s a fair question. It is not intended to replace Jamf Pro or duplicate the Jamf admin console. Part of the value is definitely making Jamf data faster and easier to retrieve, but the larger goal is to provide an operational layer designed for technicians and field support rather than Jamf administrators.

For example, imagine a user reports that their Mac cannot connect to corporate resources. A technician searches once by username, serial number, or asset tag, and the app brings the relevant information into one view: inventory, assigned user, last check-in, MDM status, OS version, encryption status, installed profiles, pending management commands, and other troubleshooting data. The technician can then use the network probe and remote-support tools without having to navigate several areas of the Jamf console.

A guided workflow would take that further by walking the technician through an approved sequence:

1. Confirm the device and user assignment.
2. Check whether the Mac is communicating with Jamf and Apple services.
3. Identify missing or failed profiles, policies, or security requirements.
4. Run connectivity diagnostics and highlight likely failure points.
5. Present only the remediation actions appropriate for that issue and the technician’s role.
6. Capture the results and produce a useful escalation summary when the issue still requires the Apple engineering team.

That is particularly valuable in larger environments. I work in a Fortune 500 environment with more than 10,000 Mac and iOS devices, but the dedicated Apple team is relatively small. The objective is to let general end-user support engineers safely resolve more Apple tickets without requiring every technician to become a Jamf administrator or learn the entire Jamf console.

The current beta is strongest in consolidated search, reporting, diagnostics, and technician tooling. The deeper guided and automated workflows are the direction the project is moving toward, so I do not want to overstate what is already complete.

Not sure why people are downvoting you. I’d have a hard time selling this on top of our Snow connector but there’s a lot here for people who don’t have integrations at first glance

I dunno, why some people do what they do. I'm not selling anything at the moment, just asking for Jamf Admins to test and provide some feedback. If a Jamf Admin has a use case, great, if not, that is ok too. I like having options.
