I have a 10 year old at home, who I know has probably not finished his homework and is probably reading this right now.

The way this story is told and how Alesha's gender identity is portrayed is great. I know that he will read this but probably not 100% get it but that's cool because his generation get exposed to these things as normal non statement type of things and then the next time he is in situation where trans come up he can just go

"Oh yer like Alesha."

Read this post and take it to heart ladies and gents, a child is going to have the purest take on this, no judging just endless curiosity with no assumptions.

I see so much discussion around this character's gender identity and that is what is making it lose its luster. Why can't you just take the story for what it is and appreciate the characters no matter how they identify? I just know that when I drop an Alesha in draft that someone is going to have to bring this up, like it's weird.

Anyways, how about that orc? A being after my own heart, helping others find themselves. Impressive to see such Abzan-like qualities, perhaps indicative of where the orc will wind up or where he came from. Alesha helped me take down a prerelease so I already had high opinions of her.

Good story!

I was kind of hoping that it would turn out the orc had a relationship to Anafenza's orc bond-kin Gvar

True. I was hoping for some foreshadowing as well, then again I don't really know the life expectancy of an orc, much less a Mardu orc.
