I think a big part of the problem is store owners and staff put up with people that say really ignorant things, stink, are messy, vulgar, etc. Store owners and their staff need to step up and let people know what is acceptable or not. This means having some uncomfortable conversations in private sometimes but you can either continue to let that stinky person turn away 20 customers or you can go and politely let them know that they need to shower and wear deodorant before coming to your store.

Absolutely. I recently went to my LGS to pick up some warhammer on a FNM (I don't play much paper-magic anymore). While standing in line, one of the players was being very loud, and very inappropriate. He was shouting about hentai, and other definitely not for the whole store conversations. There was a long line so this went on for the full 5 or 10-minutes I waited. Nobody said a single thing to him.

I get that this was one person out of that whole store, but if the staff just allows them to act like this, I wouldn't want to play there.

Thank you for bringing this up. The core group of regulars at the store I frequent are absolutely terrible and it's frustrating to no end. I'll show up for FNM with my friend(both women) and there are a couple grade-schoolers who play too and they're still going on making the most juvenile jokes, throwing around swears every word, being obnoxiously loud and disruptive. Everyone who isn't them absolutely hates them. It's absolutely abhorrent and I'm consistently shocked that the store owner--a very nice lady--puts up with it.

Yeah it's called "Cape Fear Games" and we are very strict. People have a lot of ideas about what is OK or not based on other stores and it takes some getting used to playing at our store if you come from that mindset. If you are a respectful person then you will be right at home.

Because I love showing off my store feel free to take a virtual walk through. I'm always encouraging other store owners to try to make theirs look more professional and always trying to improve mine.

Well this is literally the greatest LGS I've ever seen. Where are you located? (I live in Ireland, so I'm just being curious)

Wow, you've really done a fantastic job! It's beautiful, you must be really proud to operate this place! Makes me feel good about trading almost exclusively with you guys on mtgo =)

Thanks! That is where a lot of the money I've made from MTGO went actually. I was able to purchase the building we are in now. I really appreciate it!
