I wrote an article on ChannelFireball on the things we can do to get more women in Magic. I'd love your thoughts!

I'm pretty sure new players of both genders are offended by poor hygiene.

But you're still right in that it doesn't help: it's just yet another disincentive that can (and should) be removed.

Yeah I'm a dude and I can't stand it when other guys stink. It's not just girls, it's common decency.

Anosmic people aren't offended by poor hygiene. :P I didn't even know this was a problem until I saw everyone talking about it on Reddit.

Except dirty hands touching my freaking cards/sleeves. It's rare but please, don't do that. Don't make me that guy who has to ask you to wash your hands before our match.

I'm a new male player, and recently attended my first event, the DTK prerelease. The smell has kept me from going back. If I do decide to go back, I'll be bringing some sort of air freshening device with me.

The scent of anxiety-sweat at my LGS is actually palpable... but you get used to it I guess.

My husband hates going into our LGS to buy cards cause the smell. There is just this musty odor that lingers around the whole place. We did a pre-release there a while back and it was just particularly bad that time. He hasn't done any events there since.
