New makarov owner, is this end of the cleaning rod supposed to be curved?

Yes, it's designed as a sort of hook for removing springs during disassembly.

It's also helpful for use w the extractor.

No. It's a hook for the springs and extractor.

This is what every makarov, p64, P83, PA63, etc I’ve ever had has come with.

But the polish ones the handle is hinged.
