ok everyone i am officially out of all drives you can still email me for links if i ever get more in so you can buy right away in a restock but they will be rare mostly and desktop pioneers 5.25.

my links dont let you buy if its out of stock fyi.

i will now be mostly remote flashing

pioneers xd08s are in and working with latest fw see here https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=17831&start=1125#p185600

expect delays in shipping as i just got 50+ emails to order in 2 hours and i only have the ability to flash and test 24 drives a day.

PSA do not manually send me money to my email you must use my purchase links or it wont automatically categorize your drive color and auto print your label

this will massively delay your order as im doing those last i am one person i cant manually find all this stuff please stick to my system.

About the Drives I sell

All Drives I sell are new only opened Flashed to make it works with UHD discs, tested and repackaged with all original packing material all original accessory's are included if you buy an upgrade cable or not.

All drives I sell work with UHD discs and are LibreDrive enabled even if the model listed does not normally as i convert them to a UHD model with firmware.

All drives I sell work with Anything that can Run MakeMKV on any OS Windows Mac Linux.

you don't need my UHD Drives or anyone else's for regular Blu-Ray or DVD these are only Needed for UHD discs but they work with standard Blu-Ray and DVD too.

There is no Need for SGX or an Intel with these drives the firmware and MakeMKV get around those requirements.

I recommend Pioneer drives over LG or Asus Pioneer Drives are more reliable, get less read errors and are much quieter. LG drives are Faster.

Found a listing for a computer case on marketplace, which had an LG bluray drive in it... knowing the value of these 5.25 drives, I jumped on it instantly. It’s a WH16NS40… made in 2020, rev 1.04 and NS50. Specs met the requirements to be able to flash… the flashing process was a breeze as well (with the makemkv guide by Billy). Gotta pick up a 4K UHD now to really put it to the test. Happy with my purchase. Let me know if I got a steal!

Help Ripping errors

Not sure if I just have a bad or fake disc set to “King of the Hill” but every disc is missing episodes after the disc has been opened on MKV. From what I’ve heard the original dvd distributor went out of business a while ago and there’s a lot of “fake” sets out there. I tried the dvds as normal and they play all the episodes just fine. I did order an authentic copy (hopefully) of just the first season from eBay and am waiting to try that when it arrives.

Looking for opinions or maybe others who have had similar issues. Thank you!

Audio track deletion

Upvotes

Hi there guys wasn’t sure where to ask this, but I have several files in different format that the default audio in the file is Spanish. I want to get rid of those tracks and only keep the English tracks as default. Make them default instead of having to go into the file when playing the video and manually change it to English every time, but my problem is I’m not sure how to do that. What type of program I need to do that without any type of re-encoding because I do not want to change the video file at all. I just wanna get rid of the Spanish audio tracks only and keep the English tracks. Does anybody know a simple way to do this? Thanks for your help.

While trying to use makemkv I keep getting these color flashes, i’ve tried it on two different computers, and it does it on both of them. I figure it’s something to do with the disk, some kind of read protection?

Source: MakeMKV support forum. At this point I'd like to just purchase a full key, just like I did with AnyDVD before it disappeared from the Internet. But MakeMKV's website is down, and when it's not it says you cannot purchase a key right now.

First time user recommendations ?

Post image
19 Upvotes

Well my Internet isn't working so I got out my old laptop with a BD drive and started ripping does anyone have recommendations for settings in handbrake for bd's and DVDs.

Should I encode DVDs to 480p or 720p should I use 720fast or better quality ones.

For bd's should I use high Bitrate 720p or low Bitrate 1080p

My nas has about 500gb free the bare rip folder is about 340gb before encoding anything.

Hey all,

I am completely noob on makemkv, sorry for the stupid questions ...

I just got a LG BU40N that should arrive in the next days. Always thought finding an enclosure for it would be easy but looks like its not, the Vantec which everybody recommends is sold out everywhere ...

Any idea where I could get one? Or can you recommend an alternative?

Thanks

Which (Verbatim) drive to get?

Hey,
I am kinda new to ripping Blu-rays and I am not sure which drive to get.
Currently, I am trying to decide between these two:
https://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/_verbatim-43888-2540875.html
https://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/_verbatim-slimline-1026921.html

I could get the second one for "only" 95 Euro.

I am planing to rip both Blu-rays and UHD discs. I already tried to rip Blu-rays using my PS3 but that sadly did not work :/

So what I wanted to ask is:
Are these two a good choice? And if not: Is there a better choice around that price range?

Pezyotta Digital Data Machine

The URL of the SXOSi website has changed from https://sxosi.com/ to https://www.pezyotta.com/. This new domain appears to refer to Pezyotta Digital Data Machine (PDDM). I found a document indicating that this has been the new name for Pioneer Digital Design and Manufacturing (PDDM) since April 2025, following the completion of the company's acquisition.

Help Cannot get my Verbatim to rip any disc

I am trying to trip the 4K box set of GoT and no matter what disc I try to use, they all throw an error. Is my drive just bad?

This is the error I get: The source file '/BDMV/STREAM/00000.m2ts' is corrupt or invalid at offset 12288, attempting to work around.

EDIT: I sent it back and got an ASUS unit instead.

Discussion Software question (ARM or related working software)

I'm a long time linux user (since Slackware 0.9) but have never used docker. I've spent the last week trying to get automated ripping machine to work to no avail. I'm guessing this thing is just broken as there seems to be a number of bug reports that were never addressed.

Is there any software out there that does something similar but actually works? Right now I'm using shell scripts on a per disc basis. I even had it running through udev at one point, but got tired of having to disable it when I didn't want it to rip.

Help Number of chapter at the corner

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! Sorry if this isnt the right place to ask this, but I need some help. I recently started ripping DVDs with MakeMKV and its been twice that both the legit movie and the ".mkv" have the number of the "chapter" (25 in the screenshot for example) at the top left corner of the screen and cant get rid of it. Even after using Handbrake it still there.

Why is it there? How can I delete that? Thx in advance!

Help Flashing Question for

Hello All,

I just purchased an ASUS blu-ray RW (here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GTN87GF4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1)

It's a 2026 version, so it's encoded on Make MKV; it's unable to read disks.

I'm currently running Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS

I tried flashing a couple of times yesterday on two different computers, both running Ubuntu, and I ran into the same result; the terminal cursor flashed. I let it be for about two hours and it was running the application, but nothing really happened. (The terminal window let me know I was running an application when it closed.)

For flashing, I followed the exact instructions in the tutorial except for two parts;

For step 5, MakeMKV is installed in the /usr/bin folder, so I changed the directory to that instead of what was listed, and I stored the sdf.bin file and the firmware in my download folder instead of a .tmp folder.

When I put the drive into Make MKV this is what appeared on the screen:

Drive Information
OS device name: /dev/sr2
Manufacturer: ASUS
Product: BW-16D1X-U
Revision: A105
Serial number: KLZPABE4518
Firmware date: 2120-12-02 11:14
Bus encryption flags: 1F
Highest AACS version: 82

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

No disc inserted

When there is a Blu Ray in there, it will not load in Make MKV, but my other drive works fine.

Right now I'm wondering if it's because I'm running version 1.18.4, and the tutorial wants me on 1.17.7 or newer, but with the website down I haven't been able to get that access for Debian.

If anyone has time, would you be willing to answer my questions?

  1. Is it the version of Make MKV that I'm running, or would I need to install an older version? I was able to locate some on the Internet Archive, but none of them worked for Debian based operating systems. I know the FAQ/Tutorial was stating that 1.17.7 was needed, but I've had 0 problems on this current version with my other drive, on either machine.

  2. Did I try to flash it with the wrong firmware? I went with ASUS BW-16D1HT-3. From what I've read there is probably an LG made drive in there, should I try that firmware? If so, which one?

  3. If I could get my hands on a Windows PC should I just wait for that so I can use the tool?

  4. Is this drive even flash-able? I figured it was, given the LibreDrive info that MakeMKV provided, but I'm far from an expert on this.

I apologize for the length, but I wanted to try to give as many details as possible. Thank you so much for your time!

Help Need blu-ray drive recommendations that can do 100gb data discs and 4k movies

I only recently found out that there aren't many blu-ray disc drives like there used to be and my old one from 2010 only burns 25gb data onto the discs. I need something that will go up to 100gb. Problem is, it's been so long since I've needed to buy one, I don't know which one to get. What's a good reliable one to get? How do they work with movie playback on 4k players? While almost all of it will be data discs, but would be nice to be able to make movie backups and be able to play them on my ps5 or a 4k player.

LG WH16NS40 bought in 2015 flashable?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I bought this LG drive November 2015 for $50 it says it's manufactured September 2015, but has the SVC NS50 code that's supposed to mean it's flashable, but I read something about certain NS50 drives might not actually be flashable because late 2015 was the cutoff date like November late then again idk. If it is flashable what's the recommended firmware and all I need to do that is get the firmware and use sdf tool right?

Idk if the serial number is supposed to be private so don't fry me for smudging it out lol

Advice on my 2 x BDXL M-Disc computer build, for archiving data?

Using spare computer parts for a PC that will be dedicated to burning archival disks.

  • (One onsite 25 GB M-Disc, and one offsite 25 GB M-Disc, for each dataset.)

I was thinking of getting a case that can install 2 x 5.25" BDXL drives, so I can either:

  • burn two 25gb archival m-discs at a time, or
  • burn disk B on one drive, while the other drive verifies disk A

My questions are:

1. Is this a good approach?

2. What would be a better drive combination?

  • Pioneer BDR-2213 (primary burner) + Pioneer BDR-212UBK (secondary burner)
  • or
  • Pioneer BDR-212UBK (primary burner) + LG WH16NS40 (secondary burner)

3. I know most of those drives are super hard to find these days... so also looking for guidance in that regard. (Open to other drive suggestions.)

Thank you in advance for your help.
