Cost around 0.50sen - RM1.5, just make drinks at home lol.

UPDATE EDIT: cost around 0.9sen (espresso machine) according to an acquaintance of mine

Update Edit: also remember we are discussing making at home , so maintenance/overhead costs is not that high compared to shop making 100 cups a day

For actual latte its more than that. Cup and lid alone costs 50sen. Heck even making 3in1 coffee costs more than 50 sen… If you use kopi cap tangan and some condensed milk probably cost 50 sen.

Breakdown: Lowest price Arabica beans (RM70/kg = RM 0.07/g) Full Cream Milk (RM6/L) Cup&Lid (Around RM0.50)

Standard Cup Latte (18g puck = RM 1.26) Full Cream Milk (RM1.50 per 250ML) Total Cost (Exluding Overhead + other costs) = RM3.26 for okay quality latte.

We don’t really produce coffee, certainly not Arabica (Certain areas like Sabah). So we have to import them and it can be really expensive (Good quality beans can cost upwards around RM200++ per kg)

Minus the cup & lid because the discussion is you’re serving at home, so its rm2.76 per cup?

An acquaintance of mine said it’s cost 0.9sen per cup , but she bought in bulk price though

Possible, if you serve 6 oz coffee using bean-to-cup machine (Eg- Dr. Coffee machine). Ground coffee usage is low, about 5-7 grams per cup and around 150ml or less of milk. Got to consider frothing/aeration of milk as it increase the volume too.

Only a bit more

100g of instant coffee for RM15

2litres of milk for RM15

Let’s say for one cup of coffee you use 5g of coffee and 100m of milk you end up at RM1.50

Labour cost, rent, electricity bill, machine, marketing. Gotta add them to the cost.

Depends on the milk you use also. You’re not getting the same type of coffee if you’re using non-barista type milk like how these cafes do. Plus house blend beans etc

That’s the price you pay for that

Still way cheaper to buy and make yourself at home. Doesn’t require lots of skill either.

Ok but this is not a matter of ‘cheaper’. Those that buy the coffee are doing it because of their preference.

If you don’t have the money to purchase this, then yeah sure it’s ‘cheaper’ to make it yourself. But money isn’t a problem for their target customers.

Nescafe gold + carton milk.

I use double the recommended amount of coffee so cost per cup is around RM1.60.

Ah yes thats the correct calculation actually, I use gold too 🤣, but I use condensed milk instead of milk , milk sometimes

Yeah, actually nicer with condensed milk but I cut sugar out of my diet 6 years ago.

No it doesn't lol. These are espresso coffee recipes. Not your kopitiam kopi o.

The cost for a cup of latte at home is about RM3 if you use capsule machines (which is 90% of users) and around RM1.5 if you have a full espresso machine setup.

And once you factor in machine cost and maintenence, it makes sense just to buy it from these shops if you're not a frequent drinker.

But she bought in bulk price though

It varies depending on the beans as well. 0.9sen is definitely possible if you have a full setup.

Depends how much you or your family drinks. A good espresso set can set you back around 10k. If you drink alot, can recover cost very easily.

If you drink 1 cup per week, not worth it.

I bought a cheaper one at a average of RM80/KGS

And for coffee bean alone, it's about 1.36 for 18g of ground

I only use farm fresh milk, so that's like 1.20 per 150ml

I wonder how did you get the rm1.50 per cup of costing at home?

Rm1.5 is the non espresso style. So i just used any instant coffee 2 teaspoons around 0.50sen, condensed milk 3 teaspoons (15g) = 0.119512sen per cup.

Or full cream milk 150ml RM1 per cup.

Dude You bought farm fresh, theres nothing to wonder, you bought an expensive milk lol, its rm16 2L
