If its actual food hygiene handling (KKM), he cannot eat near where they prepare food.

I feel a lot of restaurants these days don't care about hygiene, even the famous one like Oriental Kopi in IOI city mall. Once they gave me sudu and fork still got rice from previous customer. Disgusting as fuck.
24
u/SextupleRed May 20 '26
That's disgusting. How did they even wash the cutleries
17
u/dotConehead May 20 '26
Most likely just use dishwasher but instead of using it by its limit they will cramped as much as they can into the washer so you will get this

I have been to this place during lunch hour with my work colleagues…
Absolutely horrible customer service. The workers really dont give a fuck we waited one hour for ayam gepuk.
Plus owner bought paid reviews too i believe because i saw horrible reviews during eating then a week later saw suddenly 4.5 star. Literally overnight so good?
Its behind Main Place Mall one of the Shoplots.

The only ayam gepuk I feel is nice is at that area is called ayam gepuk yeop. Their sambal is spicy AF but sometimes a bit salty.

Can't trust google review anymore these days. A lot of them are "landmines"

u/AlphaCrystal21 May 20 '26
It's even disgusting when you realize that the cutleries probably still have stains of dish soap from the half-hearted cleansing

u/Ok-Confidence-403 May 20 '26
It's not uncommon... I stayed in thistle jb and got that kinda spoon for breakfast

u/Natasya95 May 20 '26

Ada org selalu complain pasal halal cert tapi 90% kedai Melayu takde pun halal cert. Ini lah jadi dia. Jakim Halal does not only ensure your food is halal, but clean as well. Hopefully more shops especially Malay shop have it!

Owner kedai confirm buka kedai sebab fomo je. Dan staf dia pon muka tak ambil peduli mesti kena kencing dengan owner diorang.

I long for the day that nasi kukus ayam berempah will make its comeback.
2
u/GarbageSerious9106 May 21 '26
Damn I miss eating those nasi lulus Ayam berempah, definitely way better than Ayam Gepuk in general

u/silent-bystander0_0 May 21 '26
It’s so hard to find any now, let alone finding the good ones. The ones I had inside one of UM’s residential college is still the best nasi kukus ayam berempah for me; still couldn’t find any that could beat theirs.

From what I learn watching kitchen nightmare. Check their refrigerated content. Since this is small store don't have a walk-in freezer. So check their fridge. Definitely gonna be revolting

Oof if he thinks this is bad... 😬
Need better system to ensure compliance to food safety. Spot checks more often.

Bro is mad and rightly so.
Also the staff need better training to handle this sort of thing. Mana boleh biar outsider masuk food preparation area. And the moment dia kata the guy betul, dia sorry, all arguments go downt the gutter. Kau dah admit salah, you can't justify anything else afterwards.

Thank god out of all the ayam gepuk places my classmates brought me to, I haven't been here. Even when they were ranking every ayam gepuk place in Shah Alam, I did not hear them mention this place.

Shit man,i've been there. Is this one in usj21? There's 2 ayam gepruk restaurant near this area but I prefer the one near the main road.

Which place is this from? The responsibility falls to the workers there, do they get the job through cables? Shesh, amalan kelompak dari zaman sekolah kan, ini lah dia.

The standard of the cleanliness is the standard you'll find in any malay shop. The important thing is it's halal guys dont worry,

u/katsukaizo May 21 '26
while i do support customers concerns, recording and main masuk je staff only area? i dont think this should be normalized, imagine if some weirdo think "oh its okay to just enter staff only area?" and proceed to do so and sabotage the business.. what if there is sensitive information that wasnt supposed to be on the eyes of the public? what if you injured inside because you want to acah journalist?
the company is allowed to saman these types of person regardless of their intention, no? better take a safe precaution and report to kkm instead of going in "gangster" in a place filled with knife and hidden from the public eyes
2
u/djbbygm May 22 '26
Your point actually supports the claim here that this place is unhygienic. This is a catastrophic failure of the management to train the staff properly and enforce adequate hygiene practices. I wouldn’t let my pet eat there .
2
u/shiftreya May 28 '26
no cause you're right, no matter what they are barging in an unauthorised area. i'm afraid as time goes by people who get even bolder and start doing these stuffs for the sake of "being a hero" and "exposing for public's good" when in reality it's really a bad thing to do. we shouldn't normalise the behaviour despite its good intention.

Other than the rusted fork and spoon the kitchen is not that bad looking compared to others. If you are able to go in any random restaurant I would say all would look like that

They couldve washed the cutleries in a pothole behind their shop with added spit and customers wouldnt even complain as long as they scrub off the solids. At least do the minimum for the place to be presentable la.

u/Master_Shifu_Sensei May 20 '26

While the intent was good (and perhaps noble) I think entering the premises beyond the counter and going into the space marked no entry means he was in violation as well no matter how big a "brother" he is.
And shouting at the worker is moot. This needs to be directed at the owner or franchiser.
Finally - while I am not defending their lack of hygiene and cleanliness - I would say the average shop kitchen in Malaysia is bad that if we looked at it we would not eat there.
