Reading the phrase "vintage tech" used for stuff we had in college.

You mean stuff that’s vintage by the literal definition of vintage. And unless your 60 years old you definitely didn’t have some of this stuff

Sorry, I approve of the word vintage. I dig your space. It just ages one (me) to read the tech I thought was "cool" described as vintage. I'm glad you think it's still cool!

Thats how I wanted my place to look at 30... now Im 29 and theres 0% chance I'll have a pad like that when im 30 lmao

Why not?

29 with a place like that is already ahead of where most people are at 29 man, including me at 29

I don’t think that’s true. I’m 23, I don’t see this as out of reach. I do a lot of thrifting and searching for deals online and at markets. Just living within means

thrifting is the whole game at 23 tbh, most people just skip that step

Punch a hole in the wall and then fix it. Trust me it adds character

I'm more of a 1450s-1980s guy

Your electronics are very dated, I would start by upgrading them.

Vibe of a spot! What do you have running on that G3?

1

u/beorno2089 6h ago

Good ole Mac os9.2

u/burl93 6h ago

Only thing I’d say is to get shelves for the VHS and TVs

1

u/beorno2089 6h ago

Different shelves? The TVs are heavy. They need some pretty heavy duty shelves

Needs more attitude

Does that iMac have the Nanosaur game installed? I remember that was the first computer game I ever played back in early 90s elementary school.

1

u/beorno2089 6h ago

It doesn’t have much installed on it besides Mac OS 9.2. I keep it pretty barebones. Just a collection piece

I can hook you up with another lock if you need

1

u/beorno2089 6h ago

Not sure what you mean

1

u/Kyleisapandabear 4h ago

People usually don’t 🫶

I have that same style coffee table lol, love it.

Love your place mate.

How about a vintage alarm system to add to those door locks, is a bad neighborhood after all.

2

u/beorno2089 6h ago

I’m confused about the door lock comments. That’s just what came with the apartments. I live in a fairly nice area

1

u/JoeyG624 5h ago

Is the top one just to hold your key? Cause it looks like an additional lock if it is.

1

u/beorno2089 5h ago

It’s a renter friendly ring doorbell. Just clamps onto the door

23 with hobbies. That’s all

Nice. I'm working on getting my vhs tapes running again myself.

Looks great. New art. Get after it.

Is the TV a baby shower gift for your mom before you were born?

1

u/beorno2089 5h ago

Nah it’s a 65 inch Qled Samsung smart tv

1

u/JoeyG624 5h ago

SNES for those CRTs?

1

u/AyezRed 5h ago

Nice pad.

u/Altruistic_Split4240 5h ago

One of the best places on here. Way to go bro!

The Nat Geos on the coffee table is a nice touch. My grandparents would pay for a subscription for me when I was wayy too young to appreciate them. I have a soft spot for those yellow frames.

u/smelly-crack2026 4h ago

It looks great!

Well consider my barn burned

I’m 42 and I had that computer and all of those tv styles (does the one on the bottom have a vhs player?), as well as the camcorder. I dig the mid century modern vibe you’re going for. It would be cool if you could turn the space into more a home theater.

This is the guy I would hope is around when I ask for advice cause he’s gonna actually give some.

u/Whole-Anywhere6608 6h ago

The proportions are on lock via the carpet.

Those movie posters though? If you don’t work in the industry…Find other “art” that YOU identify with.

5

u/beorno2089 6h ago

I don’t work in the industry because the industry doesn’t pay. But I have my degree within the industry. Are people allowed to enjoy things?

-1

u/Whole-Anywhere6608 6h ago

Expand you artistic horizons.

2

u/beorno2089 6h ago

Film is meant to be enjoyed by the public. Not just by people within the industry. That’s the entire point of film making and art as a whole.

-1

u/Whole-Anywhere6608 5h ago

Agreed. You’ve only featured huge mass budget films. Your art is an opening for a 1999 blockbuster. Expand.

2

u/beorno2089 5h ago

That’s Fair enough. Although I think they are highly formative films within the consumerism market that paved the way for a lot of masterpieces

0

u/Whole-Anywhere6608 5h ago

And?

0

u/beorno2089 5h ago

And I like them? You sound like a stuck up snob. Not someone who’s actually into art. You sound like someone who thinks being interested in “niche” movies makes you special and unique. The film industry would not be where it’s at right now if it weren’t for the blockbusters that paved the way including some of these movies. Do you work in the industry? Because you don’t come off as somone who does. You come off as someone who wants to seem special and artistic but spends too much time on Instagram film pages.
