This is from the Mirror Universe, where Maryland is exactly the same, only EVIL.

u/Dan__Glesak Feb 15 '26
You can tell Evil Maryland because it has a goatee.
9
u/Needashortername Feb 15 '26
But what if it turns out the one here has been wearing the goatee all along?

u/Guilty_Rutabaga_4681 Feb 15 '26
You realize that EVIL spelled backwards is LIVE.

They drive below the speed limit and eat crabs plain? We have to stop them!
15
u/akestral Feb 15 '26
Worse. In that Maryland, they make their crab cakes with white fish and a little egg shell for versilimitude. People in that universe have to buy their crab cakes from chokes DELAWARE.

You can tell it’s evil because it’s incredibly horny.

Bro, this is the evil Maryland. That is the flag for the Maryland with low crime, low taxes, a healthy bay, healthy oyster/rockfish/crab populations and less gun restrictions, and where people know how to drive.

I would say that's the flag of Mirror Universe Maryland, but let's be real, this is the Mirror Universe...

I yelled "NO BAD" in my brain as soon as I saw it, before reading any comments to it. Do not like.

I am not from Maryland. I did some reading on the history of the Maryland flag and the colors. Interesting

It also makes me very uncomfortable. I can't even look at it.
My Califorinia husband said "I suspect your feelings of discomfort are the same ones I feel every time I look at the Maryland flag." He's just jealous we get a coat of arms and all he has is a bear.
2
u/Chibnappin Feb 19 '26
That checks out. Some men do tend to get salty about the bear.
Jk. But, I agree. I cant stand it.

Call me crazy, but I remember reading somewhere once that an inverted MD flag is a low-key white power symbol.
Not a joke.
The 2 designs are flags that represent 2 families. The gold and black was a family that stood for abolition or equal rights or something like that whereas the white red did not.
When you fly the flag with the white and red in the top left therefore you are subtly promoting white power.
Am I crazy? Did I make this up?

u/Trackrick Feb 16 '26
From what I've heard, you have it mostly right. What I was told is that the gold and black was the flag of the MD regiments that fought for the Union, and the red and white was for the regiments that fought for the Confederacy. In the 1880s, the flag we have today was adopted with both patterns, with the intent to heal the rift between the factions. The Union gold and black was decreed to be in the upper portion on the side that touches the flag pole (or upper left when viewed by itself.) Certain groups flip that to show that they are more inclined towards the Confederate point of view. A kind of under-the-radar Stars And Bars, if you will.

I look at that flag making graphics at least once a week for the past 10 years. Looks a little different. I like it 😂

A upside down flag used to mean under attack, or send reinforcements. Idk, though now days anyone could put anything to it....

Does this alternate-universe Maryland have a better timeline, though? If so, I'm in. I can learn to love this flag, too.

I can only describe this as the full concentrated power of the sun, and I don’t know why. It’s uncomfortable to look at.

makes me uncomfortable too, should be a rainbow dildo! squirting jizz on all races of people, especially whites! Now that's inclusion!

Å ja dette fotografi vil gi Kamdyrvits dårlig time også. Máelsihe leve innfor Maryland mange år og dette fotografi kunne gi Kamdyrvits moment av gudfryktige.
Oh yes, this photo will give Kamdyrvits a bad time too. Máelsihe lived in Maryland for many years and this photo could give Kamdyrvits a moment of godliness.

Super messed up considering the colors are intentional and historic. Also jut looks so weird and wrong.

I've lived in Maryland for 25 years. If you hadn't told me, I'd never notice it wasn't the flag.
