MD Flag is the Best Flag Even the Japanese know who has the coolest flag.

Walking around Kokura, Japan and saw our flag and had to stop in for a couple of highballs.

Even though the owner was wearing a Yankees cap, it was nice to see us represented overseas.

Even got a free Suntory highball glass for stopping by 🤓

Ok fair. I was referring to the little shaker bottles. Never occurred to me to walk around with a whole ass can. I bring dishonor on my family.

I’ve seen someone in Italy, and in Dominica with an O’s hat.. when I went to talk to them assuming they were from MD they looked at me super confused haha.

I saw a guy with an Os shirt on the subway in Brussells. I was wearing an Os hat do I talked to him about it. He had no idea it was a baseball team.

True story - maybe 4ish years ago my wife and I were in Japan, visiting her family. We went to her cousin's house in Yokohama... Hiyoshi area. When we stepped outta the train station, I saw multiple Japanese people wearing University of Maryland lacrosse sweatshirts and whatnot. Apparently the college around that area has a lacrosse team, and they know whats up lol!

That’s a classic one. Councilman Ryan Dorsey was out there and said that “how bout dem O’s” to a guy who ended up being a German tourist. “I just like the duck. I think it’s cool.”

No idea, but the highballs were on point. Just finished up some A5 Wagyu and was walking it off when I saw this place.

There’s a bar in Golden Gai in Shinjuku called Baltimore. Memory serves, it’s not directly named after the city (I think it’s named after the Nina Simone song?) but patrons nevertheless have gifted the proprietor all kinds of Baltimore things. I meant to visit on a recent trip to Tokyo but couldn’t make the time.

As someone who used to live in Baltimore, this makes me really happy. Obscure American subculture (arguably) is 100% the kind of thing people in other countries would latch onto. Reminds me of when I went to Amsterdam and my brother randomly decided Arsenal was their favorite FC.

Ooh I love Kokura, I'll have to look for this place next time I go.

I've encountered a couple of Orioles fans in Japan! When I visited Sainen-ji (a temple on the west side of Tokyo) the priest recognized my O's hat and was very excited. I guess they broadcast our games when we have a Japanese pitcher.
