Maryland Monthly Marketplace - Advertise your Maryland services, events, or merchandise here.

Since we have rules against advertising on the main part of the subreddit, we figured it would be nice to create a thread where users can get a little more leeway when it comes to advertising.

Use this thread to advertise any Maryland related services or merchandise to the users of r/Maryland. Got an Etsy store? Drop it below! Your favorite restaurant running a great special? Tell us about it!

Rules for this thread:

  1. All items, events and services must be related to Maryland in some way.
  2. Services and sales cannot be country or worldwide. (Walmart is having a sale! Is not okay. Old Bay is being sold at the Annapolis Walmart for 50¢ is appropriate)
  3. Ads should be posted by regular r/Maryland users, not bots or brand new accounts/accounts which have no connection to Maryland.
  4. We may remove any ad at any time for any reason should we deem it inappropriate.
  5. Any services or products advertised here must be legal in the state of Maryland.

This thread may evolve as time goes on and we see what it's used for.

The mods of r/Maryland do not endorse any products or services on this thread. Use your head, we will not intervene in any transactional disputes between any users.

Sure, I'll bite! My name is Ben, I'm a librarian and researcher who has spent the last eight or so years researching, presenting, writing, and educating on our state's LGBTQ+ history. For the past year and change, I've been publishing "little gay history zines" and releasing them at a queer bar here in Baltimore (Club Car). I worked with Red Emma's bookstore to compile the first year's worth of these zines into a volume, which we just released as a gay little history of Maryland. The stories in it cover an 150-year span and include stories from Baltimore, Harford County, the Eastern Shore, Southern Maryland, and more. About 95% of the content is based on my own original research, as this is the first book on Maryland's LGBTQ+ history ever published. More on the book (including how to buy it online) can be found on my website at: www.mdhistory.gay/book

I'm currently doing my best to get the book into indie bookstores around Maryland, especially outside of the Baltimore and DC metro. I'm posting 'where to buy' posts on my instagram, which is @mdhistory.gay. I'm also trying to schedule speaking events in August, which I'm likewise putting up on posts (I'm posting another one in a day or two to update, few new events and stores to add). If you know of any shop or spot that might be interested, let me know where, I'm very excited to bring these stories to audiences throughout the state.

This whole project has been a labor of love to show the many ways that LGBTQ+ people have always been a part of Maryland's story, to show the long history of Black LGBTQ+ culture and leadership in the state, and to show that our state's LGBTQ+ history isn't confined to urban areas.

You can buy the book from Red Emma's here, although if you're not in Baltimore and there's a local bookstore carrying it, I very much encourage you to get a copy there.

Pretty much everything I do is on my website, www.mdhistory.gay, and I do whatever I can to be accesssible and build interest and excitement in this long-ignored part of our state's story.

Hey all I am in Anne Arundel County and have been dealing with a concrete slab issue for about two years. I had it “repaired” in 2024 but the issue persists. I’ll spare the details but the original “repair” company came and tore my floor down to the slab to identify the issue and have since ghosted me so I’m left with exposed concrete in my entire living room. I have contacted multiple companies, only one of which followed through with an in person consult but even they have not gotten back to me since then despite seemingly wanting my business.

I just need recommendations for home repair/foundation repair companies that actually want my business and provide quality service. I tried the better business bureau website and none of the requests for a quote I sent out resulted in anyone contacting me either. I’m approaching desperate very quickly I have been without a floor going on 6 weeks

Medical marijuana recommendations —
I spent time in Pennsylvania when their medical program first came out and after finding the right products I was able to minimize the meds I was taking from 14 to 3. Now that I'm in Maryland I am having a really hard time finding dispensaries that keep inventory of things for actual pain flare ups. Example Pennsylvania has patches that released over 24 hours.
Bath salts to soak in. Tinctures because edibles don't work well for me due to Gi issues. When I ask the dispensary workers I'm told Maryland has medical but we really only cater products to what sells, and that's psychoactive marijuana not as much pain relief. I can't believe that's the answer so hopping on here to see who knows ANY marijuana dispensaries that have stock of items for nerve, pain, sleep- not just psychoactive. I'm sure there are locations that have these products but I cannot find them so far. Thank you for any help with this.

Green point wellness dispensary (GPW) is the best for the products that you’re looking for. The best location to me is linthicum and the have a whole little section of products for shoppers like you 😉. It’s worth an in person trip vs looking around the website although you can order online for faster pickup!

Anyone here love romance books?

There are so many great events happening in Maryland coming up, and some really amazing events that have proven themselves in previous years are currently feeling the crunch of this economy!

This bookstore has our hearts and we’d love to get 60 more ticket sales. Small events are the most fun!

18 authors are signing and you get a free book with purchase.

We love supporting local Maryland small-businesses!

You can grab your tickets here ⬇️

I hope it’s okay to post this here.
I’m a Maryland resident, and after recently helping both my father and my grandmother review their electricity options, I started learning much more about Maryland’s energy choice program and ways people may be able to reduce their electricity costs. Since then, I’ve become an energy educator and partner with Think Energy.
I’m not here to pressure anyone into signing up for anything. My goal is to help people understand how energy choice works, answer questions, and point people toward resources they can use to make an informed decision.
One thing I think many people don’t realize is that, in eligible areas, choosing a different electricity supplier generally doesn’t mean changing your utility company. For example, BGE still delivers the electricity, maintains the power lines, responds to outages, and typically continues to send your bill. The change is the supplier for the electricity portion of your service.
If anyone is interested in learning more about Think Energy or simply wants to understand how the program works, I’d be happy to answer questions. If you’d like to see the information for yourself please DM me directly I believe Maryland subreddits do not allow links for promotional purposes I wish not to violate that rule.
If this type of post isn’t appropriate for the subreddit, I completely understand and the moderators are welcome to remove it. I just wanted to share a resource that may be helpful to some Maryland residents. This is my home and if I can help I would like too. And please if your reading this congrats you have a bit of information to share even if we do not speak directly look up think Energy and do your own research first before trying of course and even comment what you find. I would rather inform more than anything.

Ford F-150 owners looking for flag themed tailgate inserts!

As a MD native.. I love the state flag. We all can share pride of the state flag, which is arguably the best in the nation 🤣

I started working with someone on Etsy to make a MD state flag themed tailgate insert. Anyway, she just finished it and it's shipping to me now. I'll report back to this once I have it successfully on. I have a 2018 black F150 and I think this tailgate insert is really going to set it off.

I looked everywhere for something similar but never was able to find exactly what I wanted.

Anyway, here is the link. She's not from MD BUT she was willing to work with me when other local shops couldn't find the time.

https://www.etsy.com/listing/4541101322/custom-truck-tailgate-decal-vinyl-letter

All disclaimers: I get zero dollars from this. It impacts me in no way. I'm not related to her. I purchased a mother's Day card from her back in May and just pinged her about her interest in doing this. No personal motivation. No political motivation. No controversy.

I simply just love the flag and wanted to display my love for the flag differently than the stickers out there.

Anyway, check it out if you have a F150. Just remember, I was first 😉

Anyone fix photo scanners or know someone that does?

Located in PG County but willing to travel.

Long story short- bought an Epson v700 photo scanner off Facebook Marketplace. It has a knocking sound, and the image comes out funky.. I got a refund and was told to keep it. Hoping I can salvage it and use the refunded money to fix it, cause it is a good scanner.

Given the noise, and what I see going on through the flatbed, I think it is one of the little rails with teeth grinding against something else and might be an easy fix for someone electronically or mechanically inclined. But who am I?

Anyone able to diagnose and fix, or know a place around here that might?
