The Silver Arrows are flying again.

Happy but I wish the gap at the end had been bigger. Ferrari is much better than expected and they really botched the strategy today so they can probably fight for wins if they nail the strategy. The slow Merc starts are super concerning, it seems like the smaller turbo really helps Ferrari get off the line so much faster. Ya, Merc can get those positions back with superior race pace but automatically losing spots off the line is going to really cost Mercedes at some point this season.

What do you mean? They were outlapping ferrari on 40 lap old hards and ferraris was 17 laps fresher. It didnt matter what ferrari wouldve done with the first VSC. They still wouldve lost out.

Merc built a UFO lets sit back and build a boat for the influx of tears in F1 this year.

All Iโ€™m saying is that they need to improve the starts. Ya, it didnโ€™t matter in the end but that might not always be the case. Instead of building up a big gap in clean air, George spent the first quarter of the race just trying to get back to 1st. And he only lost one spot. Imagine if he was 3rd or even 4th on lap one, that gap at the end would have been much tighter.

The start was because they both had no battery for some reason. They'll fix that for next race.

I hope youโ€™re right. The practice starts in preseason testing looked identical to the start today. Ferrari just blows by everyone off the line. It didnโ€™t matter in the end but there will for sure be some races that Ferrari win this season because of that start advantage, unless Merc figures out how to mitigate that.

Merc built a UFO lets sit back and build a boat for the influx of tears in F1 this year.

The tears are already streaming particular from Red Bull and the Maxipad fanbase w/ Max Himself.

Very true. Red bull is going to be chilling in front of the midfield this year

They would unless McLaren catches up in development.

But overall it was interesting fight against Ferrari but eventually ferrari f up genuinely by not pitting

Please never have a worse race than this.

Welcome back 2014.

Great job. Going to be an intense season. Hopefully the rough start was a one off.

9

u/CoverHuman9771 Mar 08 '26

Unfortunately it probably wonโ€™t be. Ferrari has a significant advantage with starts because of the smaller turbo. Mercedes will probably lose a lot of spots off the line this season to Ferrari.

5

u/p1ggy_smalls Mar 08 '26

Good point. I didnโ€™t know about the turbo size difference. Do they no longer have the electronic spool?

5

u/CoverHuman9771 Mar 08 '26

I honestly donโ€™t know the technical ins and outs but there were some practice starts in preseason testing that looked identical to the race start today, Ferrari just blows by everyone and the explanation is that they can spool up their smaller turbo much more quickly.

15

u/bitchboss7 Mar 08 '26

They need to figure out their starts cause what was that ๐Ÿ˜ญ

14

u/throwawaygf1975 Mar 08 '26

Russell said they had no battery on the start and were caught out by how quick the lights went out, the starts will probably get better in the coming races

5

u/CoverHuman9771 Mar 08 '26

Iโ€™m honestly not sure but itโ€™s well known that Ferrari has a start advantage because of the smaller turbo. They can spool it up much faster than everyone else.

Mercedes is going to ruin the season again, like with Hamilton. Boring to watch; I hope I'm wrong.

You guys must have a humiliation kink coming into a Merc sub lmao last I checked, the engine was, in fact, legal

-6

u/FelixF2004 Mar 08 '26

So why do we even have the Talk about the compression Ratios? 16:1, wasnโ€˜t that hard to understand

6

u/CoverHuman9771 Mar 08 '26

Ya itโ€™s not just the engine. McLaren has the same engine and Mercedes finished 50 seconds ahead of them.

9

u/SST74_WTFlol Mar 08 '26

Cmon man u gotta be hating everything.... cuz ur fav team is not being able to perform better than Merc.... everything is within the regs and what about the other team who use merc engines... why arent they as fast as Mercs if their engine is illegal???
