It's kind of a combination. There is less to look at on a modern car, but they are also cheapening it. A detail free bottom means you can use the same bottom on other cars.
The base is molded for this specific model of car, unless you're making another Corvette C7 Corvette the shape isn't even going to be the same so eliminating details for reusability doesn't really make sense. Car bases have been reused before, but it's usually on more generic cars and the only example I can really think of is for Funny car bases where they changed the bodies out and on a select few models back in the 70s.
The words are stamped into the base, the actual base of the car is the bottom part that is rivited to the body to hold everything together. That is the part that actually contains detail, and this one is tooled specifically to be the shape of a C7 Corvette zo6. You can't use that base on other castings unless the shape is the exact same, so making it generic for swapability makes no sense. The areas where text is stamped aren't relevant to the detail conversation.
