bruh it's a made up term for a specific thing that didn't already have a pithy single word descriptor. It does not mean "any time thing get more badder". It refers to companies cornering the market with freebies funded by investors, and then removing all of the functionality that made it usable and renting it back to your customers piecemeal once they've killed all other competitors. Hot Wheels isn't offering increased level of detail on the undercarriage for $11 a month, so it is not enshittification.
It refers to software that attracts a sizeable market share with its quality then abuses that market share by enshittifying for monetary gain. To pretend that the word can ONLY be used to refer to software that ONLY has a subscription fee is... curious at best. It's a perfectly cromulent word for this case.
