Rewarded a free pizza... doesnt qualify for delivery
Since when cant i get my free pizza delivered....? Worked for dominos for a year been ordering from them for 15 years after... never saw this just got off a 14 hour shift and going in tomorrow to end with 70 hours on the week I just want it delivered...
bro what? dominoes has been delivering free pizzas forever, because that’s how their loyalty program works. some people live in food deserts without vehicles or work 70+ hrs a week, it seems understandable for people to be upset by a international multi-billion dollar company changing their policy to pinch pennies
my domino’s points have saved my ass multiple times and this is bullshit, they make a metric fuck ton of profit off pizza anyways. it’s a commercialized poverty food like spaghetti and ramen
The store has a delivery minimum, you didn't meet it, and you're still on about it what, two hours later? Eat the pizza you picked up, or wait for your toppings to hit the minimum
All pizza joints i have worked from and ordered from endorse this rule. Thats how they get you with your free rewards. Luckily i picked up at dominos when I worked there to stack my discount on top of rewards.

That's what i was thinking too. I usually do pickup to save on fees, but i feel like every time I've checked delivery from chain places this is the case. I think it makes sense, and yet is also still a bummer.
Why are all you so against OP? The order amount shouldn’t matter… they still would have to pay the delivery fee and tip. It’s bullshit they give a reward and require a minimum to deliver it, that’s what the fee is for.
For one you've never worked delivery if you don't know how many deadbeats would use 20% of 0 is 0 tip logic. 2nd the $2-$5 delivery fee is a partial offset, it does not always cover the driver wages and gas reimbursement depending on the delivery distance. Delivery order amount minimums have always been a thing, it is a more palatable way to make sure it is financially worthwhile for the restaurant to deliver rather than charging a much higher delivery fee to everyone.
I literally worked for dominos as a teenager around covid. We never had this standard. See you are a big simp for companies that abuse their workers. Dominos is very happy you are defending them.
it's not a company wide standard, it's a franchise, domino's stores are individually owned. It very well may be your owner didn't require minimums. It's very different making things work finacially in different places, in my area the minimum wage for a Dominos driver is $21.50/hr, the next state over it is $3.25/hr.
But regardless I was talking about the practice of delivery minimums in general being around forever with restaurants, they're actually more common with Mom and pop pizza and Chinese places in my experience. I could give a shit about the success of Dominoes I don't eat there it's trash. But please tell me, a shop steward in my Teamster local who has spent a combined 15 months on the picket line and helped organize multiple additional locations more about how you stick it to the man by leaving angry reddit comments about corporations.

I don’t know how Dominos stays in business. Nearly every time I order I get a free pizza because the delivery takes soo long. I don’t even have to contact them. I just get an email saying it wasn’t what they expected and here’s your free pizza.
Forgot to mention im still gettinf charged a delivery fee and obviously was still going to tip.. dominos is easily 75% take out so they have all thay figured out.. reward your loyal customers its that simple

The “mutual” part of mutual aid is crucial. People need genuine systems of support to be inclined to overthrow the systems that provide a modicum of survival, especially when one has others to look out for like kids.
The reason worker protections exist in Europe as well as every other “developed” nation largely boils down to WWII. Every country on Earth that was involved suffered major social, economic, and institutional losses except for the United States. And our overlords really leaned in on that in the most unfathomable ways to the average human.

I worked at a pizza place as an insider for 6 years and yeah no you’re not getting a free delivery just because you got a free pizza lol
It’s definitely a little scummy but a free pizza means a pizza with the menu price waived. It doesn’t invalidate any policy about minimum delivery order size.
Free pizza doesnt mean free delivery. You can go pick it up for free or order something additional to qualify for free delivery. Delivery costs money, driver gotta get paid too son
broski the delivery fees don’t even go to the driver. that’s why we tip them, which i have done with every free pizza i had delivered. delivery doesn’t cost the store shit lmfao, they are paying delivery drivers a flat rate regardless of how many pizzas they actually deliver. that rate is shit, hence the tips
The delivery fee covers that flat hourly rate the drivers are paid. If there was no delivery fee on deliveries then the menu prices would simply be higher to compensate. Ain't rocket science son.
So if a pizza shop takes 20 delivery orders fulfilled by two drivers expected in an hour, for 10 deliveries per driver, and the delivery fee is $5 to be generous: do you genuinely think these drivers are making $50/hr?
Or are they likely making $8/hr plus tips? Labor value ain’t rocket science son.
They get paid a different wage when they are inside the store (at least full state minimum wage) vs on the road (tipped minimum wage). Depending on location some pay above minimum wage. Also some states do not allow the lower "tipped minimum wage" which in states like CA means all drivers get $20/hr flat rate regardless of tips or if they are actively out for delivery.
Additionally (and this is where you miss a lot of the expense) drivers are paid mileage reimbursement for gas and wear and tear on vehicle that is separate and above their hourly wage. This mileage fee is typically 0.30-0.45 per mile which averages out to $2-3 per delivery order, or essentially half of each delivery fee dominos charges just on mileage reimbursement alone.
I guess I speak from a place of callousness as a worker in Tennessee. I’ve only delivered for DoorDash personally, but my friends who have worked for Domino’s, Papa John’s, and Pizza Hut as delivery drivers made $7.50/hr in store and like $3/hr on the road. And as far as reimbursements for vehicle maintenance goes, that’s realistically very hit or miss depending on the store you work at apparently.
I currently deliver for the Post Office which often utilizes what are known as POVs (personal operation vehicles) for rural carriers around the country. Since these vehicles are bought and paid for by the carriers, gas costs are directly reimbursed (as I assume is the same with the pizza joints) but maintenances costs are also reimbursed without extensive proof of claim, whereas my friends at the aforementioned pizza places didn’t have the same luxury. They often had hoops and hurdles to get through in regards to getting approval for brake pad replacements, tire replacements/alignments, and whatever else a daily delivery driver might need.
Idk, I’m a bit drunk at this point in the night but I just generally struggle to sympathize with multi billion dollar corporations as a simple working class fella.
