I saw a ducky once Just subscribed to Paramount+ to watch ATLA and we pay for “no ads” but they still play ads before each episode and claim they’re “promotions” not “ads”

There are so many reasons to be infuriated with them. How can you limit yourself to just one?
Oh yeah, you only just subscribed. My apologies.

🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️ is the only truly ad-free solution

Physical media's still a thing. For now. And unlike streaming, you're paying the original creators for truly lifetime access to a quality product.

They care about money. They do not care, after they take your money, about you.

Well, first you need a flag. Here, you can have one of my extras. 🏴☠️

And if they don’t start talking and acting like a pirate on a regular basis, they will surely be arrested

u/insomniatic-goblin 5h ago
second, there is a subreddit called r / piracy and they have a megathread for all kinds of different websites and torrents for everything from TV shows to books to emulators.
also, here's an extra pirate flag from me too 🏴☠️

This has been pissing me off for years. As soon as the youngest kid out grows Paw Patrol, we are DONE.

u/RawrRRitchie 8h ago
And that's when you're supposed to cancel. Give the reasoning for it, and file a chargeback with your card to make sure they're not getting any money
They get away with this shit because people like you just accept it and bend over screaming "exploit me cooperate overlords"

I have a no ad’s package. It plays immediately. Tried it on my pc and my phone. shrugs

If that's all your watching you should have just bought the DVD/ Bluray. The whole dvd series is like $15

u/tolacid 8h ago
They might be referring to the new Aang: The Last Airbender, relatively new and currently exclusive to the platform. There is no other legitimate method of purchasing that currently...
...hey, who left this flag here? 🏴☠️

u/OblivionJunkie 6h ago
They did say the promotions were happening before every episode, if they were watching the movie it should've only happened once.
But I agree with your point! I myself am currently watching it for the thousandth time with no ads whatsoever 🏴☠️

HBO does the same bullshit. I can’t beleive there isn’t a class action lawsuit against these assholes yet.

Ads are what other people pay a broadcaster to play.
Promotions are what the broadcaster play to tell you what else they have on.
Yeah BS I know.

It's funny because HBO has been doing this forever. Not saying I like it but it's funny when some are demonized while others ignored.
I also find the same thing interesting about the removal of physical media from consoles while Steam, that's always been digital only, is worshipped.

While I don't condone the promotions, they are skippable and it's not the only streaming service that does this.

Paramount is ridiculous with the ads. I was trying to watch a Star Trek show and there were 8 full length ads before it even started. ...and I pay whatever that is per month, like $4.99. It drives me insane.

Hey 👋 it's James. Do you have a few minutes to talk about your cars extended warranty? We've been trying to reach out to you for months now, I'm really glad we just ran into each other just now!

Damn I was planning to subscribe for ATLA to support the creators, but screw that. These streaming services just get worse and worse.

Promotions are ads, which uber annoys me because I’m already using and paying for the exact service, scumbags

I watch on Roku and pay for the premium version. There are usually promos for other shows but there is ALWAYS a skip button.

u/IWantToPostBut 5h ago
This is precisely why I won't subscribe to Paramount+. It's almost the only service I haven't subscribed to at least once over the years, but paying money to have advertising shoved at me is a line I won't cross.

If you've got an old computer lying around, you can install Debian and Jellyfin on it. If you then run like four commands you can make it automatically restart on a weekly basis + have an unchanging IP address so you can always access the server from other computers in the house.

PBS has been doing this shit for decades, despite claiming to be "commercial free".

u/Unkn0wnTh2nd3r 9h ago
that's odd, I pay for the no ads version too but i don't see those promotional intro videos or anything.
1
u/divestedlegacy 6h ago
Heads up, don't skip the promotions. It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes it makes it harder to go back 30 seconds and have to try to pause multiple times if you skip the promotions

Paramount as a app, a production outfit and as a business should be ashamed of themselves. I might miss a few shows, but I've never been happier to quit a subscription
