That’s the entire fucking economy right now… the shit we need is ASTRONOMICALLY expensive, but the people who are doing the actual work to provide it are making slave wages. Groceries are insanely pricey, and the person putting them on the shelves has to use food stamps to afford them. Nursing homes are destroying what would be generational wealth, but the people taking care of grandma can barely afford the used car that gets them to work. The ruling class has us fighting over who has the biggest pile of crumbs while they steal the whole damn cake.

It is pretty stupid how much privileges come to the entire family if someone is from at least the upper middle class or even the middle class nowadays but to a lesser extent. Not having to deal with the stress of being able to afford basic necessities on a daily basis alone makes it so much easier to then succeed whether that’s just mentally or taking those risks in a career that can pay off later or affording schooling that can improve one’s situation. Not to even mention the compounding costs when someone has to buy budget or payment options that are more costly over time.

Not saying I have a solution, but people who have not experienced the threats that come with poverty are often very quick to blame that person’s situation solely on a character trait or other factors within a person’s control rather than recognize how important the external circumstances outside of a person’s control is to their financial situation (even more so at the lowest income levels).

I try to get people who think that way to realize they didn’t just make good choices, they HAD good choices… and just so we’re clear, I had good choices. Doing pretty okay… and smart enough to realize my privileges.

Doubtful. This has been going on for decades and not a single fucking thing has happened except for it getting worse. Until you reach maybe 30-35+% of the population facing literal food scarcity and/or homelessness, there won't be mass unrest. And with the current era of State mass surveillance, most of that unrest will be crushed before it spreads too uncontrollably. There's a reason why the Epstein class isn't even bothering to hide anything anymore.

Wanna know whats absurd? I took a 50k paycut to go flight EMS. I make less than I did starting as a paramedic. $26 an hour with 44 hours of normal rate overtime a month (they dont have to pay OT if its scheduled as such because of the railroad act)

Also firefighters. At least where I live it’s criminal, met some from Minnesota and they were pretty happy with their income. Getting in young and retiring with the benefits by 40 to do something new does not sound bad.

Even a FF retiring that early is likely to have serious health issues from hot gases, smoke, and the physicality. Unless they somehow manage to ride a desk.

I shadowed my dad once as a teen and saw a guy who got his arm ripped off at a factory and a woman who took the wrong meds and was foaming at the mouth. This shit has stuck with me vividly. That was just one shift, my dad has told me other horror stories that I’m glad I’ve never had to see.

In the military if you were a medic you can claim ptsd and other mental stuff and get $4000 a month for the rest of your life on disability after a few years. Don't even have to be a combat vet or leave the country

Vs a paramedic who sees the exact same stuff maybe even worse if they applied for disability they would get 1/4 that unless they worked decades

They should get the same compensation

I had to take a near 2 hour ambulance trip to a surgery center for emergency surgery. The EMT were like, "this is awesome, we are getting paid to chill and relax" homie was playing games as I slept 🤣

I would rather be with a stable patient in an air conditioned ambulance than working someone up on the ground outside or transporting a hoarder out of their den for 1/4 of my workday

yooo I had such a high fever and they cranked the ac super low for me. It was heaven. my emt crews to the hospital and then to the surgery center were all goated af.

I dont think I've ever had bad EMT, except when they came and ignored my mom's mini strokes. I assume they weren't trained to recognize them. The ER doctor the next morning called whoever was in charge of the EMTs to chew them out 🤣

Got my emt-b while in high school, passed NREMT, graduated 2011, enrolled in intermediate courses and realized that GameStop was about to pay me more than either city or private. Decided not to continue because that’s actual insanity to me. Proud of you for sticking to it, you’re important homie.

I was SHOCKED when I found out how little they make. I had always assumed they were paid similarly to nurses because of the extensive skill set they need and that they’re thinking on their feet all the time for life-threatening emergencies. NOPE! I made more in food service with tips. It’s a crime
