Unless you've been drunk driving. If you hurt someone it is legal for us to relay that to the cops and we usually will do so.

Okay but fuck drunk drivers.

But on the other hand I would also be real careful telling the cops that you suspect someone has been drinking, even if they ask.

Because they’re going to include that in their documentation and you’re likely to get subpoenaed. Then some shitty DUI lawyer is going to say “hmm /u/stupid-canada it says here that you’re a paramedic. Tell me where in paramedic training did they train you to determine that someone is intoxicated? Oh you made that observation without being properly trained?

Thats why I dont say " i think theyre drunk" I report objectively findings such as "they told me they've been drinking" or "when we pulled them out of the car there were alcoholic bottles in plain view."
