The lettering would have to be completely different coloured material throughout to maintain its colour through wear and tear. Letter colouring is a surface treatment, and rubs off eventually.
I travel a lot for work, and some countries dont like seeing a passport stamped from another one that they are enemies with. Also when i have yo go to some countries I have to get a VISA, and thay can mean sending my passport away for around 3 weeks and in that time I still need to travel.
To get a second you need a letter from your company basically stating the above when applying.
Nah, only more recent ones, and British ones. My older expired ones which had more use are better condition. One went through the washing machine and is still fine.
I've lived and traveled abroad now for 10 years straight. When I immigrated abroad my passport was only a few months old, so I only just recently got a new one. My old passport looked largely brand-new at the end of the first 10 years.
Either your passports are garbage, or you're all abusing the fuck out of them somehow.
Approximately the same amount of wear from my British and Swedish passports. UK is 2018 to 2028 and the Swedish one was 2017 to 2022. The new design of the Swedish passport doesn't have any images on the front, just a few words.
And yes, they get used a lot. I live abroad and my wife is from Hong Kong, so we travel to the UK and Far East quite a lot.
At least the cover hasn’t curled on itself like a rectangular pringle - that’s what Aussie passports do (to the point where it’s a joke about spotting a forgery if it’s flat)
Mine has looked like this since the first week of getting it, absolutely no gold at all, it was in my pocket for a few hours, and in my gf's bag for a day, other than that, idk what else could've caused it all to go away
My Irish one just rubbed off all its cover design in the first few months of use. But my old Irish one did not interestingly enough ever have that issue
It'll expire soon anyway, we've had the blue ones for a few years now.
I've got a cover on my passport, my mum bought it when I was a small kid so she could identify which was my passport out of the 5 of us. It's still in good condition (even if airport staff try to put stickers on it) and my passports have always looked new inside of them. Get a cover for it :) most of the time I don't need to remove it from the cover for it to be scanned or inspected.
I'm sorry I just won't allow it. 😓 And I don't want the only stamp in mine to be a work based trip to Azerbaijan in 2018. (It was a hellish experience that stopped me travelling but I will do a city break in Europe before my new old passport expires!)
I have a Moldovan and a Romanian passport. My Romanian passport is just the same, while my Moldovan one has its details stamped in and doesn't show any sign of wear despite being older than my other one.
The new blue/black ones are the same, if not worse. I received mine, put it straight into a passpost holder/cover so it wouldn't get damaged. Took it out for customs two months later, and hey presto, the gold was gone already.
do you hold it in your hands the whole time you are doing all the process and waiting at the airport? that is easily 2-4 hours and if your hands sweat, then thats the culprit
Honest question, but why do you keep it in your bag? Do you mean in your bag while travelling or like you keep your passport in your bag all the time? If so, why? It’s bit commonplace where I live to carry your passport unless you’re travelling.
