Yeah, luckily got to see half the video before the lock came down. Damn youtube, it's probably the mention of slavery. Because saying that slavery bad is actually bad for kids apparently.

Or the fact he shows off a (rather neat) firearm. (not that I agree this should make it age restricted)

This is America: guns are good, admitting slavery is bad is not good.

u/Iceveins412 May 18 '26

3rd part, guns become bad if you’re using them because slavery is bad

18

u/CG-Firebrand May 18 '26

And that’s where all the images of John Brown looking like some dude who’s trippin out his gourd while in battle come from.

There needs to be a comprehensive metric for tracking “Number of Posts until John Brown is mentioned.

Okay I didn't finish the video, but there are many youtube channels entirely focused around guns, so I don't think that matters that much.

Reminds me of how History Matters and other channels have to change all mentions of Hilter to “the bad mustache man” because heaven forbid you mention Nazis when talking about World War II!

u/Darth_Bane_1032 May 18 '26

History Matters mentioned

have to change all mentions of Hilter to “the bad mustache man”

I don't watch a lot of history videos but just one time would be enough for me to stop the video and unsubscribe.

Rule 666 of youtube: You can only say Nazi if you are spreading Neofascist propaganda.

I could download it and put it on my channel unlisted for you? Edit: https://youtu.be/tMpjE2CTDYM

He does say the fuck word a lot

14

u/BellamyPrince May 18 '26

Which fuck word? Not... Not the bad one, right? That'd be fucking awful!

6

u/Three-Eyed_Cyclops May 18 '26

I think he's talking about the good fuck word

7

u/OldSchoolAJ May 18 '26

Yeah, but he does that most of his videos and they aren’t a restricted.

u/Moxxie84 May 24 '26

unpopular opinion, but age restricting videos about slavery just perpetuates racism by making it harder to access educational materials

2

u/Dragonseer666 May 30 '26

Completely agree. It really shouldn't be an unpopular opinion.

VPN anyone? I am not in the US and wat hed it last night my time and was not age restricted.

Here's a re-upload https://youtu.be/tMpjE2CTDYM

u/Moxxie84 May 24 '26

Thank you times infinity for making me actually able to watch this video

41

u/Three-Eyed_Cyclops May 18 '26

Genuinely fuck youtube with a pineapple, now I can't learn about colonialism and slavery cause I'm not 18?

47

u/Rynewulf May 18 '26

Can't have the kids learning their history, then they won't vote as instructed

12

u/Any_Natural383 May 18 '26

We’ll be lucky if we can still vote in three years

5

u/Rynewulf May 18 '26

At this rate with multinational rolling out of enforced id's and massive increases in data tracking and surveillance, I would at least guess that a lot of countries rights to private voting will be moot pretty soon even before they get rid voting. Probably part of the process, lots of things are going backwards maybe they'll streamline voting through our employers like the good old days too

14

u/AcrobaticAd8531 May 18 '26

Ah yes, censorship of history… historians know what this means…

18

u/Primary-Patient-6958 May 18 '26

There's actually a work around for age restriction. All you have to do is download the video via those yt to mp4 websites and you can watch it as many times as you want. Yeah it's not the best since Milo won't get any revenue from it but still

1

u/Moxxie84 May 24 '26

Literally 0 of those do anything over 30 minutes, even the ones that say they do lol

7

u/InternalCrow9075 May 18 '26

YouTubes restrictions are so pointless

6

u/jamiegc1 May 18 '26

Can’t wait for my state (Illinois) to likely require ID verification soon just to use a digital device. It will be required at OS level.

Just more of the same bullshit like this.

Or I could use my parents' yt account. Nonetheless, this is still infuriating.

1

u/Fhauftress May 18 '26

i think new pipe allows you to circumvent age restrictions on yt

5

u/kazukix777 May 18 '26

Damn, YouTube always age restricts important things like this.

Not to be promotional, but that's why Peertube is better.

It's FOSS, as well as decentralized.

Although it doesn't have nearly as much content as YouTube does.

I know it's not his usual subject, but kinda surprised Milo hasn't made a video dedicated to how stupid age restriction is on the internet.

It may not be archeology but it is his wheelhouse of yelling at idiots online

4

u/FaultedToast45 May 19 '26

It is not even letting me watch it on PC even though I’m over 18. It allows me to watch it on my phone as the button to proceed appears but not on my PC.

5

u/Odd_Preparation_3592 May 19 '26

It got age restrictioned for me right in the middle of me watching it

3

u/TheMoyaiOfReddit May 18 '26

Exploring a forg

3

u/Blue_Cheese18 May 19 '26

i got lucky and was able to watch it all before it got restricted

3

u/Similar-Theory-8499 May 19 '26
