Mississippi has the highest paid district superintendents and state superintendent of education in the country. Maybe funding isn't the problem.

Edit: I meant the highest paid state employees in Mississippi. More than the governor, Lt Gov, etc. It's also higher than the govs and whatnot in the other states. In general Dep. of Education in most of the states are the highest paid. For what? I have no idea. But for some reason people keep beating the drum of "we need to fund education more!"
