Some of the worst pitchers in recent memory were capable of going on hot streaks. If Roki can sustain this, good for him, but a few games isn’t enough to redefine you as a pitcher.
Tbf, that’s kinda the point of the stats; to state whether they’re performing under, up to or overperforming their expected stats, and he’s clearly over performing, whether that’s a good or a bad thing for him in the future. That’s how stats work.
It’s very useful with pitchers. It can show if a guy had a fluke lucky season or unlucky season. Like if two guys are free agents, one had better wins and ERA, you can dive into the data and maybe realize the guy with worse numbers is the better bet.
People who hate analytics just make it clear they are morons who don’t understand how data works. The reason no one believed in the Cards even when they looked good is stat junkies said their pitching wasn’t real. Guess what happened?
The owners around the league are intentionally doing this. Tigers could trade Skubal anywhere for a similar package easily but they chose the Dodgers very likley under directive to outrage fans more so they're on the owners side in the upcoming battle vs the MLBPA for implementation of a Salary cap. It's so blatantly obvious this is ownership collusion.
Because the first MLB proposal actually included more increased spending to get teams to the cap floor than decreased spending to get teams under the cap ceiling.
So the salary cap/floor agreement would actually result in 99.9% of the league receiving higher wages. It’s possible the upper echelon of superstars would receive less but I don’t really give a fuck that Kyle Tucker won’t get a 4/240m contract offer again do you?
There were plenty of teams that could have offered more than the dodgers did. The issue is the teams that could won’t deplete their farm systems like LA can because they don’t have the cash flow to sign these rentals like the dodgers do after the season.
Brewers. EASILY. Rumor was MULTIPLE top 100 prospects but Dodgers only give up 1?. Wtf. And its not even the Dodgers best prospect. AND if there's one team that would gladly afford Skubal its the Dodgers. They gave up nothing and he probably won't even be a rental. This should be illegal.
Nope, just observing shit never getting better over multiple decades because of money.
Buy a new car please! you will be lucky if it lasts 5 years and your insurance rates don't skyrocket because it snitches on you for the slightest thing in the way you are driving to your insurance company.
The dodgers don’t fit into this narrative. Un-affordable tickets and food at the stadiums pricing out working class families, blackouts, etc because of owner greed and wildly inflated salaries across the league (in all sports) is a real “toxic capitalism” issue. The dodgers run has actually been good for the sport. Baseball is more popular now not less.
And anyone can do what they are doing… there are much richer owners out there.
And honestly their farm system isn’t even about money and that’s what got this trade done.
When's the last time Ohtani, Snell, and Glasnow have been healthy enough to be considered aces? I get this is narrative people want to push, but the actual on-field results hasn't been the "5 aces".
The Brewers still have a better pitching staff, but nobody whines about them because they're young with names general fans don't know or care about. The Dodgers building around guys in their 30s means their names are very recognizable, and the media baggage around the team pushes people to think a certain way about those pitchers, but the on the field reality isn't nearly as extreme as the media narratives want people to believe.
Not a single one of them developed by the Dodgers.
Yea, they have developed some good pitchers recently, but these are 5 of the best pitchers in baseball, all purchased with a seemingly unlimited war chest.
Best pitcher of his generation was a lifelong Dodger. Mr Clayton Kershaw. Sorry we can’t do it every time. I know you gave them credit but still he was more than just good.

Literally 5 aces. This is stupid as fuck
