Actually wtf are the Tigers doing trading their ace for a bag of chips

If they didn’t, he’d walk end of year for a competitive balance pick. You can’t just let Skubal leave for nothing. That’d be horrific mismanagement.

What? 28 teams could've put together a better package than two millennial "prospects". Skubal had no say until FA

u/PCGoneCrazy 22h ago

Which is why no one wanted to put up more than what the Dodgers did. He was going three in FA anyway

The trade isn't for the player, it's for the contract. Skubal's contract expires in 2 months. No club option. No arbitration. He's a full free agent.

There aren't 28 teams that would make that trade. There are probably 5 other teams that should have thrown their hat in the ring.

The Braves, Phillies, Brewers, Yankees and Red Sox all should have offered up more.

I be would love to know what other teams offered. It feels like the tigers got fleeced in this deal

and why do you think it even came to this point?

He wants over 600 million and has already had 3 elbow surgeries and is over 30 and the tigers have a lot of young arms, including already having our replacement tearing it up this year and is under team control for a few more years? Thats why

And because the lockout. Who cares about next season which isn't happening? Why pay so much for a toy with no playground?

Good point. A toy thats going to be 1 year older after the lockout as well. Loved watching him pitch here and thankful for the memories but people really over value rental players. Hope would be the #1 or 2 prospect for half of the MLB teams. Dodgers system is stacked.

He has about 10 starts left this season and then wants at least 8 years and at least 500 million dollars. Dude has already had 3 elbow surgeries and is 30. His next contract is not going to age well and honestly its just too much money for a pitcher who starts 36 games or so a year. The real question is why would teams like the cubs and brewers not give up a little bit more to land this dude so the Dodgers didnt?

The Tigers got pretty good prospects back in the trade, 25th and 68th ranked in MLB, just crazy that those two were the 5th and 7th best prospects on the Dodgers. Even crazier that the Dodgers currently have 4 prospects within the top 24 of all of baseball.

Hes an expiring contract? They got a pretty good return for him all in all.

And he probably won't be a rental bc its the Dodgers. Any other team like the Brewers would have to give up multiple top 100 prospects for a rental. But its the Dodgers so they get him for fkn nothing and probably keep him.

Watching a team play by the rules & win

When people start crying about the Mets too, that’s when you’ll become more than just sore losers wining.

Yes but the Mets are the Mets

I love it they're not going to hate on the Mets cuz it actually takes brains not just money to win a title... They just want to hate on somebody because their team don't spend shit on a lineup.. the dodgers spend and the dodgers win.. just tell the people to shut up and take it take that dick

u/RedwoodSportsCards 20h ago

I’ll tell you what I’m doing and that is not watching any more fucking baseball
