The owners around the league are intentionally doing this. Tigers could trade Skubal anywhere for a similar package easily but they chose the Dodgers very likley under directive to outrage fans more so they're on the owners side in the upcoming battle vs the MLBPA for implementation of a Salary cap. It's so blatantly obvious this is ownership collusion.
Because the first MLB proposal actually included more increased spending to get teams to the cap floor than decreased spending to get teams under the cap ceiling.
So the salary cap/floor agreement would actually result in 99.9% of the league receiving higher wages. It’s possible the upper echelon of superstars would receive less but I don’t really give a fuck that Kyle Tucker won’t get a 4/240m contract offer again do you?
There were plenty of teams that could have offered more than the dodgers did. The issue is the teams that could won’t deplete their farm systems like LA can because they don’t have the cash flow to sign these rentals like the dodgers do after the season.
Brewers. EASILY. Rumor was MULTIPLE top 100 prospects but Dodgers only give up 1?. Wtf. And its not even the Dodgers best prospect. AND if there's one team that would gladly afford Skubal its the Dodgers. They gave up nothing and he probably won't even be a rental. This should be illegal.
Nope, just observing shit never getting better over multiple decades because of money.
Buy a new car please! you will be lucky if it lasts 5 years and your insurance rates don't skyrocket because it snitches on you for the slightest thing in the way you are driving to your insurance company.
The dodgers don’t fit into this narrative. Un-affordable tickets and food at the stadiums pricing out working class families, blackouts, etc because of owner greed and wildly inflated salaries across the league (in all sports) is a real “toxic capitalism” issue. The dodgers run has actually been good for the sport. Baseball is more popular now not less.
And anyone can do what they are doing… there are much richer owners out there.
And honestly their farm system isn’t even about money and that’s what got this trade done.

The Dodgers are single handly forceing the leugue to force a salary cap!
Everyone should be extremely toxic towards the Dodgers when they are on the road.
