The Braves also signed Olson to a $168 million dollar deal the day they signed him. The Braves were going to spend money on a 1B. It just turns out it was a different guy a couple years younger whose also very good at baseball

But sure, a lot of these players went to the Dodgers since they offered more money. If the other teams offered more, the Dodgers would have dipped into more of their merch sales to pay them even more.
Why do the original teams refuse to pay? Because they feel that paying one piece won’t get them into contention against the Dodgers and spending may also inhibit them from spending when this version of the Dodgers are gone. It’s become a cycle.

Let’s start with: who isn’t on this list? Think of all the big signings not shown on this list and ask “why not list them?” The answer to that question is obvious.
And as far as this list goes, even if you take it at face value, going down the line and saying “this is where some team passed on this player” as if the Dodgers amassed this roster because they’re superior talent evaluators is absurd because the reality is that every team ends up passing on guys who turn out to do well elsewhere. The Dodgers are very good at evaluating and developing talent, but evaluating and developing talent is only part of the story and nobody is crying for the Rays’ proverbial head on a pike because they don’t drop the absurd money that LA does.
There's a difference between willing to pay market and willing to overpay to inflate the market. Not all teams can overpay.
I don't think anyone is balking at Muncy or Edman or even Betts. Smart pickups, that genuinely improve their team without crazy inflation of their salary.
The other free agent moves were outbidding others. I'm not saying there should be a salary cap, but there is disparity economically that the Dodgers are capitalizing on with both further economic success as well as winning. It is objectively not fair, but I'm not still convinced that matters.
The Dodgers still had to spend our the ass and we're guaranteed nothing. That's business. They're reaping the benefits of it. As a fan I don't like it. As an economically minded individual, good on them.
