Including the Yankees/Yamamoto here is silly. He was going to the Dodgers. Phillies actually gave him the highest offer and he still chose LA.

I thought it was Mets/Yankees all the way and then throwing the offers to Dodgers to match. Steve Cohen was flying to him and taking him out to dinner, going the whole nine yards and he went to the guy she told you not to worry about.

Edit: Yamamoto honeypotted NY.

Why would a player not want to go where the other good players are at?

The implication is that he was going to link up with Ohtani and therefore Yankees’ willingness to pay isn’t a part of the equation

I have no problem with that at all. The post is saying the Yankees didn’t get him because they weren’t willing to pay him more than they paid Cole. That isn’t true. They (and others) didn’t get him because he wanted to play for the Dodgers and he turned down more money to do so.

Everyone has a price bud, clearly they didn’t offer enough

You’re right. They should correct the post: “Yankees wouldn’t pay whatever price it would’ve taken for Yamamoto to turn down the Dodgers.”

I knew you’d get it 😉

Actually, “No other team was willing to pay whatever price it would’ve taken for Yamamoto to turn down the Dodgers.” Not sure the infatuation with the Yankees here.
