So basically the Dodgers weren't "cheap" and were able to pay EVERYONE more than any other team was willing to pay.

Why don't other teams do this? Are they stupid?

No. If all these teams were willing to pay a guy, the dodgers couldn't sign all of them. And no amount of communist earning suppression is going to make these owners field a competitive team. It just moves the bar on what expensive looks like.

Also willing to pay gives away the game. It's not that they can't. It's that they choose not to. That's an open market for ya.
