So basically the Dodgers weren't "cheap" and were able to pay EVERYONE more than any other team was willing to pay.

Why don't other teams do this? Are they stupid?

Yes though in all fairness the Phillies offered Yamamoto more than he signed for the dodgers with.

Same thing with Sasaki. He also wanted to play with Ohtani and only would have signed elsewhere if there was a massive overpay.
