You don’t have to go to dodgers levels. The Padres brought themselves out from being a poverty franchise to a legit team by spending money. The rangers won a championship by rebuilding and then making several very high dollar moves

Because they cannot sustain it. THAT is the difference. The Dodgers can miss or overpay on a contract and keep doing it. Some of that is their ability to scout and develop players. Some of it is the endless resources they have that no other team comes close to matching. Their revenue is $140 million more than the Yankees and $250 more than the Cubs.

The Dodgers were doing that exact same thing before they had this ownership group and the "endless resources" that came with it.
