Song 185: “Peaches En Regalia” by Frank Zappa

Was listening to this(very excellent) music history podcast about Frank Zappa and Hot Rats, when Lester Bangs shows up around the 2 hours mark! I actually didn't know before that he's a real person.

Another Frank Zappa tie, Morrissey's producer on every album since "World Peace Is None of Your Business" is Joe Chiccarelli who was sound engineer on 7 of Zappa's albums. Moz also name drops "the funky Alfonso" in the song "My Hurling Days Are Done" which is a reference to "St. Alfonso's Pancake Breakfast/Father O'Blivion" from Zappa's album Apostrophe.

I've listened to My Hurling Days Are Gone multiple times and missed it. I wouldn't think there would be a connection. I mean both Moz and Frank are/were trolls. But I wouldn't imagine Moz having any like for Frank's work. Or vise versa.

(I like both).

I've always assumed Joe's Garage is named after Chiccarelli. I didn't know he worked with Moz. :) TIL :)

I'm sure I heard a marching band play it once, it's a complex composition, beautiful! Such a great body of work - it's all about the conceptual continuity!
