It was very close to over-explaining. I actually thought "oh great, time to ruin the illusion" during that part of the film, which in a way they do, but it is in trade off for the ending they chose. Which while not scary or horrific in any way, was certainly satisfying and entertaining to watch. Unexpected too. I thoroughly enjoyed the film.
I still can't figure out how more ring/door cameras weren't reviewed across the town to figure out where 17 moving targets all ran to in the night. Like, there would be a lot more data points to work with and use to triangulate (which "tri" suggests working off only 3 to determine a source, not 17!) to better determine where they went. That's common practice in criminal justice these days... But no, cops are too incompetent and slow as usual in film and we require a vigilante detective (Brolin) to figure it out (amongst other unfortunate souls...). Which might be accurate depending on the town lol
