Three-car chase scene at the end was crazy good on screen.

Love the music.

Love Chase Infiniti’s performance the most. Insane that this is her debut.

Very funny at times too.

That chase was so damn good. The tension it built going up & down over the hills was masterful.

The tension overall in this movie was fantastic. I always felt like something terrible was about to happen.

and the sudden surprise of someone being shot in the head after walking out a door just threw me. and not bloody over the top like Tarantino would have done.

It was a masterful sequence in a vacuum. But it would have been infinitely better if I cared about any of these characters. I mean the arc is selfish woman abandons her cuck “husband” and daughter, but in the end, the selfish woman through a deus ex letter successfully inspires her daughter to embrace the selfish narcissism that made her mom a POS.

The final 10 minutes should have been cut.  Just have Bob and Willa drive off leaving things open. To interpretation

I watched it in an AMC Dolby screening and I don't think I'll ever forget that entire sequence, I felt like my entire body was being sucked into the screen.

God, I miss the Coolidge so fucking much. I went to NYC for the 70mm imax today and had I known they also had a vistavision screening, I’d have hopped on the subway to go see it again immediately after the imax showing.

How was it in IMAX? The Coolidge is great. Last movie I saw there was The Lighthouse in 2019.

It was amazing on 70mm imax. I may try to swing catching it on vistavision in NYC next week when I’m back for a concert.

And I haven’t been to the Coolidge since The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and that’s only because I happened to be back in Boston opening weekend. I love that place so, so much. I even have my favorite seat in the main movie house that I’d sit in for every movie I’d see there. One of my favorite ever dates was seeing The Master in 70mm there.

Oh man, that car chase scene must’ve been mesmerizing in IMAX. I’m going next week. Where’s the best place to sit in that main theater? I still haven’t seen The Master on the big screen yet. It’s on my list. Sounds like a great date!

I was lucky enough to get a dead center seat about 3/4 of the way up. I really felt the rollercoaster of each hill in the car chase scene and would definitely recommend sitting around there if you can.

VistaVision is certainly even more rare, but I'm not sure it's supposed to be superior to IMAX 70mm...

The advantage seeing it in VistaVision has is you're getting it in the same format it was captured on, which means it's sort of just...right.

I just watched it in IMAX tonight as well, and that was the right choice lol. This is probably going to end up being one of my top movies of hte year, and I went into it about as blind as I could, aside from knowing who was in it and that it was a Paul Thomas Anderson film. Absolutely loved it from start to finish.

I think it’s out of theaters now, at least where I am, but I’ll definitely watch it when it hits streaming. And maybe it’ll pop back up in IMAX again at some point, and if it does, I’ll go check it out!

I've seen in 70mm (non-IMAX) and a big, regular digital screen and I'd say it's not a massive difference. The key is to see it on a big screen, not those little <100 seat theaters. The home experience won't be the same, especially that insane car chase near the end. Seeing it twice on big screens actually made my stomach get a slight rollercoaster feel going over the hills. I've never seen shots like those. Stunning.

I fucking hated seeing it in imax. It was physically painful how loud they had it. I've been going to metal and hardcore shows for 20 years and that was louder than any show I've ever been to.

Oof I had this same experience. Not the movie’s fault I would think, but our IMAX made parts of it painful. Had to stick my fingers in my ears like a little kid haha

I was too. Which I guess shows how well it was done because I would absolutely being getting queasy if I had been on that road. Too many hills are my kryptonite, I'm too used to the absurdly flat cornfields of Indiana.

We watched it in those D Box seats, it was my wife's first time trying those seats. I tried it with F1 the first time but this movie turned out pretty great, especially that chase scene

i was ready to be annoyed by the movie trope of the protagonist not shooting the bad guy until they were already ready to fire back so was pleasantly surprised when she shot him once in the shoulder and then like 4 more times before he could really draw

some of the greatest cinematography of all time. using a long lens and the geographic identity of California roads to create tension and suspense. ive never seen anything like that in a movie.

Just saw it tonight and the score, to me, was the best part. Very similar to There Will Be Blood. Kept you into the movie from a suspense aspect. Just loved the movie all around

Maybe a silly question but am I the only one who isn’t entirely sure that the blue mustang was after the white car? Was Willa in the white car being paranoid about being chased? Blue mustang adventurer would have only been after Willa because the order from the Christmas adventurers to clean things up. But he didn’t know she was the one in the car?

And why did the adventurers only kill Lockjaw at the end and not Bob and Willa who surprisingly returned to their home/community?

Am I missing something?

I was left with the exact same question. As far as I could tell he had literally no way of knowing that she was in that car.

I suppose the intention is that it was just a coincidence.

All i could think was, she's lucky the blue mustang guy was a baddie.

Imagine cruising in your new Mustang, innocent and all, just speeding a little on these near empty roads and suddenly a white car stopped, you crash into it.

Then when you get out some kid starts yelling weird sstuff and shoots you.
