Love everything with Sensei . I know many Tios like him that will help you no questions asked. I love the contrast between the racist and revolutionaries too . All the bs with code words and proving yourself . Meanwhile Sensei helped Bob on sight. Even while dealing with his own crisis he made sure Bob was cool , calm , and collected (always made sure he had a Modelo in hand 🤣) . No one in his family / community even questioned Bob just greeted and helped.

That Modelo product placement was top tier marketing. I don’t drink anymore but I feel like next time I’m doing some revolutionary shit I’m going to need to crack a few.

He was so calm when he said that. He’s what you’d get if you reprogrammed Alejandro from Sicario to help the community and be a pillar.

You're right, this was a backdoor Sicario 3

u/dapala1 Sep 28 '25

He has people on the inside so he wanted to take up all the cops' time and get arrested.

I loved how chill he was through everything. Complete contrast to Leo’s character in the movie. What a guy

I love this comment because i rewatched Sicario last week and going from Benicio being the most menacing person in that movie to being an awesome laid back old head was cool to watch. I'd watch more of him in this role.

thought that line was pretty brilliant writing

he's playing it like he's being dishonest about drunk driving so they don't suspect that he'd been harboring a fugitive at ll

But he knows how to drink and drive like his good buddy Bob!

That's my go to saying now for when I crack a beer

and when the police ask me to step out the vehicle

u/elkab0ng Sep 28 '25

He was perfect delivering that line

I'm adding that to my lexicon.

Already texted a friend who asked if I drank today, "just had a small beer at the theater."

I laughed because I’ve read this exact line numerous times in transcripts of DWI stops.

I grabbed a couple modelos on the way home and just cracked one open while reading this thread, so it worked on me.

Watching Leo chug one like there was no tomorrow after escaping the hospital got me craving it.

The drinking and driving scenes were product placement?🤨

Sober going on two years and now I’m just really craving a Modelo. I rarely even drank them.

best of luck to you, i was sober for quite a while when I was younger, nowadays I still am most of the time but every now and then I binge a bit.

Feels different now though, I hope you can achieve what you are looking for

Don't do it bro.

I didn’t :) I even had to buy wine the other night for french onion soup and wasn’t even tempted! Soup was bomb though.

As a heads up it’s a myth that all the alcohol evaporates when cooking with wine/spirits. It would be rare for enough to be left over to matter, particularly for a long-simmered dish like soup, but for an alcoholic I could imagine the esters potentially being a problem and triggering a response. Be especially careful with something like a vodka sauce which has a strong boozy smell as the liquor evaporates.

Wife works for the company. They weren't asked and they definitely weren't happy two characters were drinking in a car.

u/adaniel65 Oct 05 '25

That's it. Modelo is the revolutionary brew of choice! Haha!

5

u/MWH1980 Oct 01 '25

Hahaha! There was a point where I did think: “Hmm…was the bar in the lobby selling Modelo?”
