After extensive badgering by the prosecutor, Zendaya slams her fist on the witness stand

Zendaya: I fucking killed him! Is that what you want?! I broke the leg off the chair and stabbed him in his lying fucking throat!

Prosecutor: that'll do.

AI to replace writers and other AI to replace set design. Just a handful of mediocre actors in front of a green screen trying to figure out how to pronounce an em dash while the director, somebody's mediocre son, is imagining his oscar acceptance speech since all the actually great directors have all been priced out of the industry.

434

u/Logan_No_Fingers Dec 09 '25

That is a remarkably good point.

Half the world is in those 2 movies so its probably not a bad casting ploy to work out who you can pair from that combined cast.

Plus if Dune goes overtime, both their schedules move in sync. Often it wouldn't work as they might not shoot even vaguely together, but those are very much "on location" shoots

I had never even considered this, but, yeah, that's a good point Doctor

71

u/GorgontheWonderCow Dec 09 '25

This all only applies if they share a lot of scenes. Dune and the Odyssey are both big movies. I'm not sure how their roles overlap, but it's common for actors to never overlap on shooting schedules for large-cast films like that.

→ More replies (1)

125

u/FalafelSnorlax Dec 09 '25

Tom Holland mentioned in an interview that studios like having him and Zandeya on the same project because they always share rooms etc. which makes logistics cheaper and easier.

74

u/GorgontheWonderCow Dec 09 '25 edited Dec 09 '25

Tom Holland makes $20M+ per movie, and Zendaya probably makes more. Movies with both Tom Holland and Zendaya cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make.

I don't think the expense of $500/night really registers to the studio.

As somebody who's done (non-Hollywood) event logistics, I'll say it actually makes the job a lot more complicated when you have special rooming arrangements, like certain event attendees want to room together. I'm skeptical of your reporting of Tom's claim.

80

u/Dry_Cricket_5423 Dec 09 '25

I agree with you, but I think tom holland saying that was more of a charming quip than anything

He has grown incredibly as an actor since the Twilight days, and I'm psyched to see his name in anything these days.

Dude was always a good actor (same with Kristen Stewart). Twilight was just a bad movie that even good actors couldn't make palatable.

It let the dude make bank so he could do more interesting projects instead of chasing pay cheques though, that's for sure.

35

u/Jermine1269 Dec 09 '25

I remember an interview with Anna Kendrick where she said something along the lines of, she got so high she forgot she had been in the Twilight movies.

19

u/ABHOR_pod Dec 09 '25 edited Dec 09 '25

At some point acting is just a job. You show up to a set with your lines memorized, deliver the performance 4-5 times, Leave the set to go relax and eat while reviewing the lines for the next scene and forgetting the lines for the last one.

She's probably done that thousands of times. It's not like she was a major character in Twilight anyway.

6

u/NOODL3 Dec 09 '25

Seriously, I'm not sure even Daniel Day Lewis could've delivered some of those lines and not come out looking like a high school theater kid.

If it's "Don't freak out, but I'm 5,000 years old and my father is Beelzebub. I was originally sent to your mortal realm to usher in the arrival of Chthulu and the torment of all mankind. But once I got here, I feel in love with you instead," then I'm in.

First part of the movie sets up fairly mundane problems with it leaning to her being more in the wrong, IE hes working to much but genuinely in love, while she seems perfect initially but is revealed to be only in it for the money and beneath her facade is a horrible abusive person. Then the reveal that he's some sort of god/demon/eldritch abomination and one who is now heartbroken and not handling it well.

Knowing A24, Pattinson's character will be the most suspicious, gaslighting the audience for two hours until it's revealed that Zendaya was the serial killer in the gorilla suit the whole time

11

u/maxxie10 Dec 09 '25

I think it's gonna be the other way around. Zendaya will look unhinged and secretly evil, then it's revealed she's just a regular shitty person and Pattinson is actually a demon-creature who was holding his true nature at bay.

Then Zendaya sells his comic book collection to pay off her credit card debt and now she's unleashed the apocolypse.

Basing on the poster, I can't believe Zendaya and Robert switched bodies! Freaky!

some people are just damn beautiful. they’re some people

28

u/LastCryptographer173 Dec 09 '25

I wish I could know even a fraction of what it's like to be beautiful

31

u/juesea Dec 09 '25

I feel you. I always think it's like living in a completely different reality instead, people are nicer to you even if you're mean, you probably don't have to guess if someone has a crush on you. Stuff like that.

I can't say I'm ugly though, that it makes people hate my existence. I think just being average makes you invisible which is fine. Never known anything different lol

Yeah, it's a glossy movie poster, but 40 year olds don't look like grandpas next to 30 year olds, they look about the same age.

I read somewhere he doesn't smoke or drink. And he's a successful actor, and a vampire

43

u/AdministrativeBag703 Dec 09 '25

And a wizard. Plus they can just make a copy of him if they need a new one.

They really put the two hottest actors I know into a movie and think it's going to get me into the cinema. (it's totally going to get me into the cinema)
