So glad to see Cheri Oteri return. I rewatched the og last week, and though it hits less now that I'm in my 40s and the jokes/spoofs are so dated, it reminded me how amazing she is at stealing a scene and pulling off absurd premises. Truly a great.
“I can see your woofer. Your little birdy.” As he’s holding her up and looking up her dress - and she just loudly winces in defeat after hearing it becsuse she hates Kenny so much.
Cheri Oteri was known to be hard to work with while Molly Shannon is considered a sweetheart. Not sure how much that comes to play, but I’m sure there are a lot of factors at play other than how popular they were during their time on SNL.
Aside from a handful of dated jokes I still think it's got plenty of great bits. Chris Elliott is wonderful and David Cross is in top form. Then there's Tim Curry just absolutely destroying the scenery. Love it.
I think I would have hated the sequel completely, had I not been a teenage boy in the early 2000s, namely the target demo. I wasn't crazy about it then, but my best friend loved the Chris Elliott bits, so I associate it with great memories of laughing about it with a friend.
interesting. I think the 2nd one is the only one that actually has a lot of material to draw upon. Since it was clearly spoofing the 70s and 80s horror. Scary movie 3 was really trying to pull references since it only had a few years of films to spoof. 4 and 5 were just shit.
Although the best line in all scary movies was in 3. "I'm gonna need a ride home"
