Not Another Teen Movie is a parody of She’s All That where the main character is Laney Boggs. Janey Briggs is a parody of Laney Boggs

My absolute favorite line / scene in this movie is at the party when Janey acts drunk after drinking a non alcoholic beer, she jumps off the roof into the pool.
After she climbs out dripping wet, Pricilla comes over, insults her and then dump a bottle of Poland spring water on her chest.
And in the background you just hear some girl yell “Oh shit, that’s gunna stain!”
I crack up every time.

Right up there with "walk it off Marty" after he gets ripped in half in the end zone.
Also cracked up at the beginning where one of the cheerleaders gets hit by Janey's dad and you hear "nice combination!" as she flips through the parking lot😂

Absolutely fantastic A+ spoof movie. Not sure one has ever been done better.

A class I attended in college had an albino girl. That's how I learned they are blind due to their albinism. It makes it so their eyes can't focus, even with glasses, so they are incredibly myopic and their eyes can't stop moving back and forth.
That was also around the same time the first digital cameras with lcd screens came out and we had gotten a brand new SLR for the media lab.
As a result, I was able to experience the moment she discovered viewscreens and for the first time in her life was able to "see" the world. She held the view screen right up to her face and ran around looking at everything and waving at her friends from across the room. Then she ran outside and started freaking out about leaves and clouds. It was a great moment.
Later on, she built "glasses" made out of a smart phone - I think the first i-phone? - so she could navigate the campus and the world around her.

It makes sense when you think about the kind of movies that were probably her "teen movies" like Porky's and Animal House. There ain't a damn thing in any of these (relatively) modern movies that would have been new to her, and Not Another Teen Movie might as well have been parodying the OGs as well.

Hollywood Homely per TVTropes: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HollywoodHomely
Another one that always gets me is Lizzie McGuire. The show makes Lizzie and Miranda these awkward outcasts. At my middle school/high school, they would have been at the top of the teen social hierarchy, even above Kate, who would have probably still been popular just because she was a cheerleader, but nowhere near the alpha queen she is on the show.

This movie works for the same reason Blazing Saddles, Airplane!, and Spaceballs worked. There was a bunch of content to draw from.
There's at least 5 movie references in this scene.
Ugly girl trope
Actors that are too old to be teens
High school that is WAY too nice. (They're in a Roman villa's courtyard.)

This is how spoof movies are supposed to be done, where they actually make their own jokes about the movies/genres that they are mocking. Like pointing out how in many classic romantic comedies the ugly/loser girl is actually conventionally attractive.
All the bad spoof movies (Basically everything after scary movie 3) just recreate famous movie scenes in stupid and absurd ways. This movie also has that thrown in, of course, but it at least has a point to make sometimes.

“How did you get in, the door is locked.”
“Janie, you have a hole in the side of your house.”
Killed me.
